Question about Sony SLV-940HF VCR

1 Answer

Sony SLV940HF What causes a double vision picture when using my VCR? I recently bought this VCR from someone but have had this same problem in the past with other VCRs. Do you know what the problem could be? When playing a movie I get like a double vision picture. When showing a person you see one clearly and a faint picture of the same person just to the left of them.

Re: Sony SLV940HF

Since you have had this problem with other VCR's, it is very likely to be a problem with the connecting cables. Defective cables, or too many cables (daisy-chaining more than a few devices) can cause ghosting, which is what you're experiencing. Try a new set of cables from the TV to the VCR, and also from the VCR to any cable, satellite or outside antenna.

Snowy picture

Clean the video heads. You can get a head cleaning tape. But the best solution is to take the top cover off and spray the Video Head with Servisol Video 40. Use cotton buds to clean any bad dirt off. Clean all the surfaces the tape touches. Allow to dry before putting a tape in. You might have to do it more than once. It will also take longer to clean if someone in the house is a smoker.

Tishoba vcr v-231 tape counter does not come on, no picture from vcr

Someone would have to look inside to see if the tape is not moving, no movement will cause it to shut down--have to look inside first.

I have an RCA VCR model VR651HF that still works great. I can record shows without a problem as long as I'm not trying to watch a dvd. I recently bought a Sony dvd player model DVP SR200. I have my cable...

The sequence should go from the wall to the VCR then the VCR to the RF modulator then from the RF modulator to the TV and this should allow you to record a TV program and watch a DVD at the same time.

Our Sony Video cassette recorder model SLV_N750 won't play??? The tape is going into play, but the reels are not turning. The VCR starts with a snowy picture and guickly stops and won't play?

The problem is the idler assembly or the black square belt that drives it, this will cause the vcr to shutdown preventing tape transport. The vcr will need to be dismantled for repair, I recommend a tv technician to check your machine with an estimate.

I have a Sony EV-C200. Where can I get it serviced?

There is someone on Ebay offering repair service. It's $60 plus parts if I remember right. Just search 8mm vcr and you'll find it. Ad has a picture of a wall of shelves with equipment on them.

Remote ineffective.

If you have a video camera with a night vision setting, wait until dark, turn out the lights and turn the camera onto night vision and look the the remote. When you press the buttons on the remote does the small led transmitter on the front ligh up. If so the remote is working but possibly sending the incorrect signals.

Vcr does not run

Try changing the channels on the VCR itself. If you can do that, then it would indicate a problem with the VCR's remote. If you are still unable to change channels on the VCR manually, it could indicate a circuitry problem, for which you will have to get the VCR serviced.

Troubleshooting vcr

Usually one connects a RF [cable tv, Dish tv, antenna ] cable to the INPUT of VCR & a RF cable output to tv (antenna )INPUT .The reason is that if you are watching TV reception (Cable, Dish, etc) and you want to watch VCR tape, just push the tape in and it should start playing picture.
From what I understand that you are trying to say:: [ YOUR NEW TV ! ] you MUST connect to the RCA jacks, CABLE S with RCA plugs that come out of the VCR to the new TV [ INPUT & OUTPUT] jacks .When you ["" use input botton on VCR remote"" ] you are using a DIFFERENT input signal. You are not letting the TV know that you are changing the signal from RF(antenna, Cable, Dish, etc)to the RCA signal ["" I use my input botton on my vcr remote""]
