Make sure the refresh rate is set at 60 hertz before using the new monitor also check the display settings to see if they are set to use the external display also. Yours may automaticaly do this and your partners may not. If this does not help please let me know the type of notebook and monitor. Good Luck!

Check signal cable

Check if the monitor is not working by connecting this monitor to another computer.

If the monitor woks on another pc, then the pc is the issue and not the monitor.

If monitor doesnt work on the other pc, then it's the monitor that needs replacing.

I hope this helps you :)

My monitor has kicked into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

Unplug all the Cables from Compaq Presario 5103 CL and leave the Keyboard, mouse and monitor cable pluged in.

Now make sure the power cable of the monitor should be pluged in and the power cable of the tower should be pluged in.

Now to check if the montor is fine just unplug the video cable only which will show no input signal on the screen. If it shows this signal the monitor is fine. Plug back in the video cable.

If the monitor is going to sleep mode it might be possible that the old computer ( Compaq Presario 5103 CL ) is in stand by mode. hit any key on the keyboard and it should come back .

If it is not in the stand by mode then do one thing. Check the same monitor with the new computer. If it is working. Perfect ..!

Do one thing now ..!

Unplug all the cables from your old system and then press the power button for 30 sec and let it go. Now plug the keyboard, mouse and the monitor try again.
If it works Perfect. If not ..!

Then you need to open the tower and check on the processor FAN is it running..? If its not running you will not get the display as the fan is responsible for the display on the screen. Otherwise...!

Check the Tower possibly the Tower is not getting the power.

Try these steps and let me know If it works

My screen doesnt get a signal from the computer what could be wrong?

There could be three reasons for the same .
1. Loose signal cable: Check and reseat the VGA or DVI cable from the back of the system tower to the monitor.

2. Bad monitor : Disconnect the monitor cable from the back of the monitor check if the monitor displays anthing .

3. Bad video card : Try connecting an alternate monitor to check if the same is displaying anything on the screen.

NO SIGNAL PROBLEM

Please check whether the monitor is set to the correct settings. If you feel its incorrect, most LCD/TFT monitors come with an auto set up button which will restore the display to one that usually works. In case it still doesnt work, you might need to connect your pc to a different monitor and check the display settings. You could also try to download the drivers for this monitor and then re-connect the monitor and see if it works.

X2 gen 17" lcd monitor, no display

This indicates either a problem with the monitor cable(ie shorted) or the display adapter. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer and if it works you will need to install a new display adapter in your computer. If it doewn't work on the new one either you can try a different monitor cable if yours isn't permanently connected. Hope this helps

Acer 3690 wont display to LCD monitor or TV outputs

First check that the 22 and 32 ince monitors are plugged in. I know this sounds like a duh, but this can be overlooked easily.

If power is plugged in, check that these two monitors work by plugging in another computer with it..or with the tv, just plugging in. If they have power, move on to the next direction..

Check your cable and make sure you are using the correct cable with each. Check the connection if it is fully connected together. If the cables are connected and monitors do not show anything, the problem herein lies the cable. Get a new one!

let me know how it turns out!
