Question about Televison & Video

6 Answers

I a Dell Dimension 4600 Series and am running Microsoft Windows XP. Everytime I try to use my DVD drive (F:), it runs for about 10-15 seconds and stops. Then the computer prompts me to "Please insert a disc into drive F:" I have no idea what to do.

DVD drive can not read the dvd
1. Lens is durty (DVD/CD lens cleaning disk $6 walmart)
2 Drive is faulty/damaged. Check if you can read CDs
3. DVD-Drive parameters are differnt from disks you are using
For instance it can read only DVD wit 1 to 8 speed you using dvd with speed 16. Or it reads at 2.7 you using dvd 1-8 etc. Ot it is DVD-RW you using DVD+R disckss etc.
Check the paremeters and try to use different brands DVD
Good Luck

You might reinstall the drivers for the dvd player or download a different dvd player.

Your driver or firmware needs updating.
Check the manufacturer's site for newest drivers.

The drive is faulty, you can try a lens cleaner but its unlikely to fix it, the lens would need to be replaced, its cheaper to replace the whole drive. Or contact dell for warranty service if its under warranty.

DVD tray won't open.

Opening a CD or DVD drive to retrieve a disc
  • Use Windows to open the drive door:
    1. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop (or click Start and My Computer in Microsoft Windows XP).
    2. Right-click the CD, CD-RW, or DVD drive , and then click Eject .
  • Restart the computer and press the EJECT button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD drive. Try shutting down or configuring any programs that write discs or monitor the CD drive.
  • If the door still will not open, do the following:
    1. Close all programs and shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the PC from the power outlet and remove the battery.
    3. Locate the manual release hole in the front faceplate of the optical drive tray. This is a small hole under the door that is a little bigger than the diameter of a paper clip. The location of the manual eject hole will vary.
    4. Insert a straightened paperclip into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
    5. Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer comes out about a quarter of an inch.
    6. Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
    7. Remove the CD and turn on the computer.

My computer is a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed ASUS DVD RW drive in December 2007. It seemed to work just after installation but now it does not work. I get a Windows Media Player Error Message...

But can you still use the DVDRW right? the only problem here is you cannot use media player because of the error message? Because if the DVDRW still read and write so there's no problem with it the problem is with the windows media player, Try using a different media player like VLC.

Hope that helps.........

Dvd movie sound is slow

it sounds like your computer is having a problem syncing the audio with the visual. you can try to add more RAM to the computer, or you can make sure no other applications are running at the time when viewing a dvd. also try using windows media player to view instead of windows media center.

DVD TSST Corp CD/DVDW TS-H552B. Computer crash using DVD+R

I tried using a blank DVD+R 16X and as soon as I closed the DVD drawer the computer crashed. No warning, no blue screen just straight to a restart. If I left the DVD in it cycled through back to a restart.
I tried the latest firmware from Samsung but it still happened S10.
I then tried an HP firmware update HP13 from their driver update page and all is well.
If you need to know more of my computer spec then please ask.

Hi,
are you trying to play DVDs from a different region ?
PC DVD Drives, are region set to the computer, if you have a region 1 dvd drive, trying to play region 2 dvds et,c. it won,t let you. theres a couple of ways around this. go to Afterdawn ( on the web ) and download a region free dvd device.
Solution 2. try to obtain any updates or re-install windows media player. suggest player version 9 or above.

Mike @ compurepair.

p.s finally is to check that your drive, indeed supports DVD Or certain types of dvd media. i.e DVD+ Or DVD- some only support One type.
