Question about Philips 26PF5320 26 in. LCD Television

Philips 26pf3320/10 Hi Philips 26pf3320/10 lcd tv Can anyone point me in the right direction to identify the faulty circuit board /part based on the description of my fault as this will allow me to buy & replace the part. Picture illegible as very fine vertical lines down screen have color content & very faint picture in the background, The horizontal white lines come every time I turn it on then it slowly turns to a vertical rainbow where the colours move moves about to the faint picture in the background . Strange thing is after this fault arose it has returned to normal with a perfect picture on 3 occasions when I was messing about with the remote control, but that's been twice in about 100 times I tried it. I am familiar with electronics and have checked all circuit boards with magnifying glass and cannot find any blown components. I have also downloaded a service manual which shows you how to get the led to blink to sequences to id error codes but they are fast & hard to id the correct qty/sequence. Thanks Andy

Where did you download the service manual? I have a 32HF7543/37 that blinks red 3 times and I can't find the service manual or error code listing anywhere.

There is a get around for this fault if you locate panel v26c look at the bottom rh corner you will find 2 test points tp11 and tp 12 if you then look on the rhs of the lcd panel actualy mounted on the side (you will have to remove the metal frame from around the screen ) you will find another panel with 2 more points tp 506 and tp507 simply solder a wire link between tp11to tp506 and another from tp12 to tp507 and that should be a permanent fix to this problem

    Brilliant!
I had a Philips TV (26PF3320) showing exactly the rasterlines as described.
Taking the TV apart was not that hard.
Note that the side board can be reached with the screen lifted a bit up in the middle.
For soldering, use the wire-rap type lead. Small and handy!
Soldering itself is a bit hard. Need good view and small soldering gun.

Anyway, my TV operates now as before: brilliant!

    Thanks for the help!

42 Philips tv won't turn on just blue light flashing

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Counting of number of blinks to Philips TVs is entirely different to that of other brand TVs. It is not a direct count procedure. The site have details about how to count the number of LED blinks [Fault Codes] to Philips brand TVs are given; along with details of the faulty circuit location.

It turns on shows the philips symbol the shuts off

There should be any short circuited component/s inside the circuit board. If the TV turns OFF after turns ON, it should really show blinking codes, that is, its standby/power LED will blink to certain times. These are called blinking codes, and you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV by these blinking codes. But, to Philips TVs, these blinks cannot be directly counted. There is a special way to count it, which in turn give you either a single digit, or two digit fault codes. You should find out the faulty circuit stage by this fault code.

My tv just popped shot blue sparks and smoked a little? Power supply? No power light.

Assuming this is a flat panel LCD TV, most often, this symptom is a result of a failed POWER SUPPLY circuit board inside your set.

One quick way to test this is to remove the rear access panel on the TV and check the power supply circuit board for any scorched / bulging / leaking electrolytic capacitors. If you see any evidence of this, then replace the power supply circuit board with a new one, since this is the most often the source of the trouble. The fact that your TV was actually smoking means the damage should be obvious and the problem area relatively easy to spot.

Here are a few link to images which show what faulty capacitors often look like:

http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Edward67/2008-03-21_132538_Bad.jpg

You can usually find replacement supply circuit boards online by searching for your TV's model number either on EBAY or at an online parts supplier.

Here is a link to one normally reliable online parts supplier, although as you can see, they do not currently have that power supply circuit board in stock:

http://www.shopjimmy.com/philips-42pfl5332d

Just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information and items at the website indicated.

The repair / replacement procedure is not extremely difficult if you have some basic electrical safety knowledge and some basic electronics / mechanical repair skills.

You will need to unplug the power cord from the unit, lay the TV screen side down on something soft and flat like a bed if necessary, and then remove the rear access panel or the entire rear cover as required in order to access the circuit boards inside.

When you remove the rear cover and access the circuit boards inside, just check the part number that is printed right on your circuit boards and confirm that they exactly match the ones provided in the online listings. Also make sure that any part you order is labelled "TESTED WORKING" in the condition description. Any part with a condition description of "AS IS" is probably faulty itself as well.

Then unclip and remove the various electrical wire connectors leading to the power supply circuit boards. Then remove the screws securing the circuit board to the TV frame and then remove the power supply circuit board. Be sure to avoid touching any large capacitors on the circuit board which can retain a nasty charge even after the unit is unplugged.
Then just screw in the new circuit board and connect all the wire bundles to their appropriate connectors on the new circuit board and then replace the rear cover. Then plug in the power cord and test.

Philips 32pf9641d/10 fault works well for 90 mins then goes black still images on screen but no backlight ? power supply or inverters? if inverters can they be repaired or replacement only,

Hi.

As you said when there is no backlight the problem is either inverter or power board. In some case the main controller board may be responsible.
You need to test the parts to find out what part is responsible. Testing is done tracking voltage from PSU to inverter. Voltage to inverter is usually supplied by the higher VDC line from PSU. Here broad description of how to test the three parts: Before proceeding...
The TV can be repaired at component level or replacing boards, depending on your skills and experience. If you want to repair at component level, after diagnosing the faulty board you test components and circuits individually. In that case to test inverter in full you will need an oscilloscope to read the phase of inverter AC section (oscillators or IC must be tested).

Note: If Inverter has voltage out to CCF lamps, then the parts mentioned above are OK, in that case you have a faulty LCD panel. The TV is usually not worth repair as the LCD panel is expensive. LCD panel faults are not common.

The screen on my 42"

Hi.

If the screen is dark and there is still sound is usually because there is no power to the inverter board. Parts that cause this are inverter, power supply or main controller board. Power to the LCD panel should also be tested.

before declaring the TV faulty make sure that the problem is not cable settings or source selection.

Check if there is on screen display (the menu). If OSD is displayed, then the problem is either cable/source settings or a defective input circuit. Try also disconnecting power cord for ten minutes and then up to one hour. Power drain may fix temporary faults.

If all that does not work, then the problem is either inverter or power board. In some case the main controller board may also be responsible.

The inverter is a power board that converts DC voltage from PSU into AC high voltage, powering the whole backlight system. When there is a problem with the inverter the whole screen will be completely dark, while the sound keeps going on.
A problem with the inverter will mean that either inverter is bad, power supply is bad and does not power the inverter, or main board is bad and does not turn inverter on. Those are the three parts that must be tested when the inverter does not fire up ( sound and dark screen). Here broad description of how to test the three parts: Before proceeding...

From a user level point of view, all you should do is disconnecting power cord for fifteen minutes, and testing the TV with different connected devices and different cables (e.g. with a DVD, a receiver box, using a SCART and using HDMI).
Disconnecting power will allow a power reset that sometimes can fix temporary problems (usually not sound but no picture).
Testing different cables and devices excludes the chance of the problem being given by a bad cable connection.

If that does not work, call the manufacturer at the number listed in the owners manual. Verify warranty status (warranty may have expired 09/10). Make present to the operator that the TV is just out of warranty, and that the fault occurred without you making any wrong use of the TV. Some manufacturer in some case apply special condition.

Philips 32" tv will not turn on flashing three

hi,
You have to check the power supply of you tv for any voltage missing. also check the back light inverter board for any short circuit in it. Inverter transformers in the back light controlling board can become faulty.Three blink indicate the power supply have some problem. First of all replace all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply board. If filter capacitors in the power supply is bad then this problem can occur.

Hi,

i think this is caused by a factory failure in the electronic circuits or the screen, and so my advise is that the bvest, easiest and safest solution to contact a tecnician or sort out wether the warranty can cover this.

Hope this is useful, and greetings,
Olivier.
