Question about Bosch SHU5316UC Dishwasher

Vented vs. non-vented dispenser unit

I ordered a replacement dispenser assembly unit online. The picture looked identical to the unit I needed to replace. However, when it arrived I realized that it was "vented", i.e. it has an opening into the inside of the door panel. The unit I'm replacing does not have this vent. The place I got the unit from does not offer a non-vented unit. Questions: What's the purpose of this vent? Is it ok to leave this vent into the door panel? Is there a way to cap it?

Re: Vented vs. non-vented dispenser unit

If you cannot get a non-vented unit, just buy the vent fitting that fits onto the dispenser runs accross the door panel and down the door to the gutter in the bottom of the door. There should be no problem using the unit "as-is", but if you see small amounts of water dripping from below the outer door panel, get the vent tube. It should be inexpensive. Oshie

Message "er" and "uo" on front panel and slight bumping noise

The UO code on most Frigidaire dishwashers means that the vent at the back of the dishwasher is open (or at least the sensor is claiming it is open). Since this vent should be closed except during the drying cycle, the unit will not start. This avoids having the washer spray water into your cabinet during the wash cycle.

The vent sensor is an optical sensor that is inside the vent assembly. So there are a few places that could fail causing the error. First check the wiring and the connectors for the wires between the vent and the CCU (main control board). If there are any broken wires or corrosion the message may not be reaching the control board. Replace any faulty wiring. If the wiring is fine, try replacing the vent assembly. On some Frigidaire models, the wiring and the vent assembly need to be replaced at the same time. If that doesn't solve the problem then the control board needs to be replaced.

Please note: when I look at the parts for the FDB1050REC0, I found a static dryer vent, . Please make sure that you are buying the parts for the correct model dishwasher.

I hope this helps.

Dispenser cover does not close properly

Usually you would not reconnect the spring in the unit due to most likely the spring is now outstretched and would just end up falling off again even if you did put it back to where it belonged. If on the other hand you can tell that the spring is not outstretched you would need to provide the make and the model number of your unit in order for me to properly tell you how to put the spring back in place. Most of the time when the spring does let go it is far more easier to just replace the soap dispenser itself rather then going through the headache of trying to attach the spring and having it fall off once again. I am also attaching a youtube video on how to change the dispenser as well but here is the link if it does not
if you have any further questions message me back.
Thank you
p.s if you need me to look up the part number for the dispenser message me back you make and model number

GE diswasher, fills with water, then stop completely. then smell like burning.

Check under the dishwasher, there should be a shiny metal shaft hooked to a plastic
triangle, this should move freely, it slides in and out of a solenoid. These failed quite
often on a couple model years. Make sure power is off to unit at breaker panel before
servicing. If you need to replace it, remove the "C" shaped clip on the triangle and the
two philips head screws behind it and slide the whole assembly off the shaft. Here's a
hint: Take a picture of how it is assembled in case you forget, you can use a phone
camera with a flashlight or a digital camera. The model and serial should be inside the door
on the left side. Part can be ordered online or purchased at an appliance parts store.
Hope this is the problem

I have a bosch dishwasher model number SGS0902GB/05. I use tablets instead of detergent. I put the tablet in the Dispenser and close the lid, noproblem. I then set the programme and shut the door, I...

Hello Andrew,

I'm more than happy to give step-by-step instructions for replacing the detergent dispenser, however it's not cheap (about £50) and it probably doesn't need to be replaced. Some of the smaller components for the dispenser are available separately, so it would be better to work out what's wrong with it, before replacing any parts - or the entire unit.

The dispenser may be receiving an erroneous signal from the controller to open when the dishwasher is in delay start mode. To check this, switch the power off, insert a tablet in the dispenser, and slide the door closed. Make sure it clicks shut fully (push on the arrow on the door)and then wait for a few minutes to see whether it opens.

If the tablet will stay in the dispenser with the power off, there is nothing wrong with the dispenser. If it opens with the power off, you may just need a new dispenser door or a spring. Please try this simple test, then get back to me for further assistance.

Removing the detergent dispenser

I have the same problem--mine is about 10 years old. To disassemble, looks like you will need to disassemble the complete door--screws around the inside edge of the door. At that price for a replacement dispenser, I will either try to fix or replace the blue arm, or replace the dishwasher. I don't believe its worth putting that kind of money in an old dishwasher.
