Pressure stops working EVERY TIME + DBT_DEVICEREMOVEPENDING

My GPen just arrived and Im very bummed with it.
I spent all day long trying to find someway for the pressure to work.
the best thing ive managed so far, is to make it work for 15 min then it stops, and I have to restart.
My Gpen is 4500, I tested it on Photosho CS3 and Painter X.

also a DBT_DEVICEREMOVEPENDING error notice always forces me to unplug the tablet.

Ive already installed the latest pluging, so im clueless...

Hello. I'm not quite sure if this will be useful for you, but i'll tell you what happened to me. I bought the very same model but without the mouse, the G-pen450. When I just bought it, I just intalled the driver from the CD, and both the painter X and photoshop cs1 trials included. I had no problem when I was drawing in photosho cs1, but when I uninstalled it and and installed photoshop cs2, I was still able to draw with the pen, but it had no pressure sensibility, no matter how hard did I press the pen against the table or how many times i enabled or disabled the pressure settings in both photoshop and the tablet driver.

what i did was downloading the new driver (the 2.0 version) for the g-pen450 from the genius page, and simply installed it ... and it didn't work, worse; now even the pen suite didn't recongize the pressure control, so, what I did was to uninstall the WHOLE software included with the table along with the driver, and then I reinstalled the new version (2.0). After I installed it, the instaling program asked me to restart the computer, so I did it. Then, after the computer was done restarting, I connected the tablet to a USB port, and then the computer recognized it, actually it told me that it recognized the tablet, two HID compatible dispossitives, and a HID compatible mouse pen. It opened that window that appears everytime you connect new hardware to the computer, and it proceeded to "install" all the drivers needed for the dispossitives.

After the computer finished installing, it asked again to restart the PC, soooo I restarted it again, when it was done, I connected the tablet once again, and this time it displayed that "your new hardware is installed and ready to use" balloon on the bottom right corner of the screen. So I tried opening photoshop CS2 again and drawing with the tablet, and this time it did work perfectly.

I think it's matter of uninstalling the old driver, and the bundle software (annotate all, pen commander, pen mail, pen signer, etc. ) and then instaling the 2.0 version of the driver.

Mildly annoying problem with pen pressure..

your pen nib might not be working, when you bought the tablet it should have come with three replaement nibs, just pull to old one out (i use my teeth (: ) and push the new one in, it shoudl fit pretty snugly.

Touch sensitivity gone.

Ok i did a search for this problem and ended up on this forum
My diagnose of the problem was that the pen was not detected by the drawing pad , so something was wrong with the pen
After studying the pen i found a little hole where the wire is where u screw the cap on the back
Pushing in the hole with a little screwdriver made the circuit board come lose
Then i found out i had to use a little screwdriver to pull out the long button before the whole circuit board would come out of the pen
I found out that one of the tiny wires from the pressure coil was loose
I soldered it back on and tested it ,still out of the hull ,but holding a battery in it and touching the drawing pad
And it worked again !! (cheer)
I think that due to some movement of the coil and/or circuit board inside the hull ,one or maybe even both of the wires come loose and that makes the pen not function anymore

Just to be sure i put a dot of extra solder on both wires because the amouth of soldering tin was barely visible

If your handy you can try to open the pen like i did and check if both wires are still connected to the circuit board
If not , with a bit solder u can fix it and get it working again

Hope my experience helps others to fix this nice drawing pad

My wife was very sad as she found out it stopped working and a new battery didn't fix it
Since i gave it to her for her birthday i was upset too and very motivated to find the problem
As ham radio operator i have plenty of soldering and trouble shooting experience

Good luck : OutOfFocus
