This is an easy printer to fix since there is only one control button. Turn the printer off. Hold the green feed key down while turning the printer on; once the red light begins flashing, let go of the feed button. This will do three things: the printer will calibrate with the installed media, it will print a configuration label and the printer will go into dump mode. Press the feed key again. One more label will come out with with the words "Out of Dump" printed at the top. If the printer still fails to print, remove the ribbon and try the same procedure with direct thermal labels (UPS or FedEx). From there, consult the manual for more troubleshooting tips.
Calibrate it! Hold down the green feed key while powering on and then release when it flashed red. If this fails, look at the page size in the driver or the "Q" and "q" EPL commands that you are sending from you application. Make the proper dots to inches conversion and try again.
When you say 2 x 1.38, it sounds like the labels are 2" wide by 1.38" long. I do not believe that the length is below a specified minumum, but this information is not on the spec sheet. Try tech support if all else fails.
Solid red light. This indicates the printer is in an error state and will not
print until the error is cleared. Check to make sure the printer is not out of
labels or out of ribbon if it is a TLP model.
A solid red light will occur if
the printer is out of labels
the printer is out of ribbon ( TLP models only )
the printhead is open, not latched down all the way. Press down on the top cover of the printer to see if the error light clears and goes to green.
the ribbon spool is slipping on the ribbon spool holder on TLP models:
Qusetion, Using USB my TLP2844 detects as a LP2844ps. Weird, huh? Also when I calibrate it the label does not stop at the perferation. When I print half goes on one label and the other half goes on the next label. Someone told me once there was a trick to get it to calibrate correctly. Anyone here know this? When I print a test page, it feed the correct amount of label.
