SOURCE: 8mm analogue camcorder tape playback at double speed

If you ran it through that many 8mm players, I'm going to say that the tape has something wrong with it.

You can see visually if there is anything wrong with the tape by releasing the cover by moving the tape and visually inspect the tape for anything that could be frayed. Usually you can see it on the bottom of the tape.

Sometimes the takeup can be messed up in the tape too. Once you release the tape cover, you can turn the white wheels to see if there is any slack in them.

Good luck on that.

SOURCE: Broken camcorder 8mm tape

Hi There, You can fix your tape yourself. 1- wind out tape from both sides of cassette. 2- cut both sides to form straight edges. 3- cut a small thin piece of clear scotch tape. 4- from cassette tape, put both sides together with recorded side facing down-- in other words you will be putting the scotch tape on the inside of the recorded tape. 4- line up the two ends and splice them together. - cut the excess scotch tape from the edges. Make sure there is no sticky stuff left there because if there is, it could rip out your video heads. The tape should only be played once and at that time, should be rerecorded to dvd or another media.
Hope this helps, mr cicmo

SOURCE: how totransfer video from an 8mm camcorder to computer

i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Good Luck!

This smacks of the same problem that the old VCR's used to have. One of you are out of sync. The tape records on a portion of the tape in a sort of straight line track. Think of it as your track is down 1/16" from the top. The other camera tracks it's video down 1/8" instead. That's why in playback it can't read it. The only cure is a realignment. Nimsgame

Sony TR425e picture slightly faded with slight snow and streaks.

You may get by with just a video head cleaning based on your symptoms. I do camcorder clean and service for just $40, but I'm in California. 916-362-8708. I do repair pal units like yours as well as the standard ntsc format as we use here in the usa. Larry Stiles, Larry's Electronics.

Recording very snowy and blurred.

If recordings are only blurry and snowy on playback on camcorder, but are OK on a different camcorder or on computer, then the problem is a dirty magnetic head. Use a mini-dv head cleaner tape. If recordings are blurred even on pc or on a different camera, then there is a fault. Faulty CCD sensor, faulty digital board, problem with internal ribbon connector, and dirty or defective lens assembly can cause this kind of problem.

Picture and sound is skipping or stuttering during playback. It happens when playing any video.

This was often caused by mixing brands of tape. Do not use head cleaners more than absolutely necessary. More than half a dozen times or so, and heads are toast.

Use quality tapes of the same make/length, from new, and you will be fine. (the coatings on the tapes vary, and can/did interact with each other.)

Are the "moire lines" like a wavy, fine pattern that stipes across the screen at an angle? If so, that sounds like an electronics problem. This is caused by the video and audio oscillators mixing together, producing beats which appear on screen. The color, you may can temporarily fix by spinning the right potentiometer, as possibly the beats (to adjust a filter's bandwidth). Without a manual, this may take trial and error, so finding a new camera may be your better bet.

Playback quality problem

A couple of things could be causing the problem. When recording, your movements with the camera could have been too quick or jerky. Try putting the camera on a flat surface or on the tripod and record for 30 seconds. If the playback picture is still bad, then it's possible that the video heads are dirty or worn out. Consult your nearest RCA authorized service center for head cleaning or replacement.

I can't play back a tape in my camcorder.

For Models: CC6384, CC6394, CC9373. Check to see if DSC is selected. If so, you won't be able to play a tape. Press REFRESH for about one second to select VIDEO. On the CC9373, make sure the DSC/VIDEO switch is set to VIDEO.

My camcorder is turning off by itself.

For Models: CC4252, CC4352, CC4362, CC4392, CC4393 If your camcorder is left in Record-Pause or Play-Pause for several minutes, it turns off automatically to prevent wear on your tape. Set the CAMERA/OFF/VCR switch to OFF and then to CAMERA or VCR to turn it back on.
