If windows is saying your admin password is wrong, you can reset it by booting from Hirens Boot CD, booting into Mini XP and running NTPWedit to blank out any passwords.

I have my daughters older (small) dell lap top but no one can remember the password to get onto the computer - it is windows XP prossional

Certainly.

Use safe mode always the first choice to recover xp password.

Here how it work:
First, restart your computer, keep pressing F8 before Windows XP loads, then select safe mode and enter, you will see the default administrator account appears in the login screen, click that account and enter your system, go to control panel to change your other account password. When it finishes, restart the computer, log in the related account with the newly created password.

If the method above can't help you ,try to use the Windows Password Reset,it is very easy and safe.

Hi,

You can login into your computer by "Safe mode with command prompt" option and use "net user" command to reset lost windows password. Or you can use third party password recovery software

I have bought a second hand aspire 9300 and want to remove the previous owners name and put my sons on.it keeps asking for a password . p.s. i bought it genuinely from a house clearance where the owner had...

Hello pikeydad. I you don't have the owner's password I suggest you download something called Hiren's Boot here:http://www.hirensbootcd.net/download/Hirens.BootCD.10.4.zip
burn it on a CD and then boot from it and under Recovery Menu use the "Active Password Changer".
Once you remove the administrator's password (the owner's) logg in to the computer go to start-control panel- user accounts. You have to add you son's account and then log in under your's account. Then go back to start - control panel - user accounts and then click on the owner's account and click delete. You can delete the account only and keep the owner's files or delete the account and files completely.
I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast free support today. Thank you :D

I have a Toshiba 4600 Lap top and I forgot my log on passwords, how can I reset it so I can have access to my lap top

if u have made reset disk like pen drive then u can use it for resetting ur password other wise do following

  1. Attempt to Login to Windows XP as the Administrator. Since many people never set their administrator password, you may still be able to get in to that account and reset your password. By default, this will not be shown. To access this user do the following. At the login screen where all the users are shown, press Ctrl-Alt-Del TWICE. It will bring up the old style login like windows 98. At user type "Administrator", leave password field empty and press enter to try and log in.
If successful you have 3 choices to do this.
1: Right click on my computer and select "Manage". On the left side select "local users and groups" and then "Users". Your login name will appear in the right hand side. Right click on it and select "Set Password". Fill in the fields or leave them empty. Apply it and your done.
2: Go to "control panel" and Select "User Accounts". In the window select "change an account" and then select which user. From there you select "Remove password" And, if it works, you're done. I have encountered it before that it asks for the password before it will remove it.
3: Go to "Start", "Run". Type in "cmd" to bring up the command window. In the window type:
"net user *USERNAME* 1234"
"net user" Always in the beginning. After the word "user" is a space and the user name. (NB) This does not work with user names which is more than 1 word. Example 'user 1' would not work where 'User1' would work. After the user name has been typed in there is another space and then a new password where I typed 1234.
So... "net user *USERNAME* 1234"

well try this, maybe u will get lucky.

Try to login as administrator and leave the password empty.

If you can login that way, then you can reset her password.

If not, there are tools out there, even free ones using a floppy disk and linux, that will boot up the PC and reset the password off a floppy disk. Let me know and I will be glad to help furthur.
