Question about Maxtor Hard Drive

Hard drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I start my computer and it says NTRDR is missing and cannot go any farther.

Start by trying to do a repair of your filesystem using your original Operating System disk. (What OS are you running)

You should be able to boot from the CD, if not check your BIOS settings and make sure the cd is set to be a boot device. Then go through the installation instructions and select repair, that will reinstall the system files without losing your data.

If the repair works, one of the first things i would do is update your virus software and run a full scan as well as perform a chkdsk /R
to make sure there are no bad blocks on the drive. Something cause that system file to get corrupted.

My pc is not reading the external drive. My previous shortcut is not responding. I have tried multiple usb connections.

How do i format hard drive?


if its not the primary drive with an operating system

click start click on my computer you should see your usb drive

right click then select format

another way is to control panel administrive tools computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

You can check the missing capacity of your hard drive by following these steps

Windows XP,Vista and 7: Click on Start then Control Panel, Select Administrative Tools then Computer Management. Select Disk Management under Storage on the left part of the window. Check if you'll see there the missing partition or capacity of your drive. Right Click on it the select Format Drive.

Missing GB after unpartitioning hard drive


please goto start>control panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>storage>disk management . Here you will find all unallocated space and allocateds too. please make those unallocated spaces new partition.

Helo assuming that you are running windows xp. sleect 'start' in the bottom left corner of the screen, then select control panel. then sleect display.

select the desktop tab and click the 'customize desktop' button on the bottom left. select the icons that you want to appear on your desktop.
