Champion vr3-8 auto drain blowing out when compressor turns off

I have a champion compressor VR3-8. Every time the Compressor turns off the Automatic tank drain blows off air through the valve on the upperside. I replace the drain and lowered the pressure to about 100psi still happening.

If the air continues to come out on top of the drain valve well after the pump has stopped, you may have a faulty tank check valve where the pump discharge line enters the tank. when this valve sticks open it will cause this problem.

IS YOUR TUBING CLOGGED, PINCHED OFF OR MAYBE DIRT-DOBBER NEST IN IT. THE WATER AND AIR IS SUPPOSED TO COME OUT THE SMALL TUBE POINTING DOWNWARDS BUT SOME EXCESS AIR MAY COME OUT THE SILVER VALVE ON TOP. THIS IS THE EXCESS AIR WHEN IT IS UNLOADING AND THE SILVER VALVE IS BASICALLY A TIMER. YOU CAN ADJUST THE DURATION OF THE BLOW DOWN TIME BY LOOSENING THE THIN JAM NUT AND SCREWING IT IN OR OUT. DO NOT BLOCK THE SMALL TUBING OR PINCH IT SHUT, YOUR COMPRESSOR CANT UNLOAD AND WILL START HARD. DONT REPLACE THE WHOLE DRAIN BECAUSE THIS AUTO DRAIN TAKES A REBUILD KIT THAT COSTS AROUND 20.00 TO 25.00 AND IS VERY SIMPLE TO REBIULD. My automatic tank drain leaks air

The unit could have trash in the valve not allowing it to seat. Relief air and clean. If the unit blows air out for a couple of seconds after the unit shuts down that is normal. That is how the pneumatic valve works.

Builds up pressure pop off valve at tank opens will not regulate pressure

I would say you have a problem with your pressure switch, you may need to adjust it down. The pressure switch is normally located under plastic cover where your on off switch is on the compressor. There should be a screw with arrows next to it. Try that, otherwise you may need a new switch

I have a porter cale C5101 compressor. It hesitate to auto start when the pressure is low, always trip my circuit breaker.

What amp breaker do you have this hooked to. I would use no less than 15 amp ,preferrably a 20 amp. Next do you drain tank after use on a regular basis. If you don't moisture can build up inside tank and cause hard starting on automatic. If you need to drain tank there should be a drain valve on bottom of tank. try turning it counterclocwise with compressor off. If it dosen't turn that way try clockwise, air and moisture should drain. If you have alot of water in tank then shut valve and turn compressor on and bring to full pressure, then repeat draining procedure until no more water comes out. Hope this helps. Thank you

I have a champion air compressor that has power but will not turn on? I see 2 wires on the top that look to be disconeccted the are from the pressure switch to the compressor itself

loose wires would probably keep it from working
if you could view a working one at a store you could see how to reconnect the pressure switch.

by being disconnected the compressor probably thinks the pressure switch is open so as to show a fully pressurized tank

Champion compressor pops manifold relief on head

depends on what relief valve it is, if it is a 2 stage pump and it is the relief on the inner-stage that is lifting indicates the second stage is not pumping correctly! I would check for a broken valve. if it is the one on the discharge line to the tank, then something is restricting it, check for blockages in the line or in the check valve entering into the tank. Most important you isolate the compressor and drain all air pressure before you attempt any repairs

I have a Champion VR3-8. Tank will not fill with air

By the tube that points down you mean the drain tube to drain water I take it. If so that tube has a valve that must be shut off to allow the pressure to build up. With that valve open your compressor will keep running.

Cant set my compressor to automatic start/stop mode

Sorry, what do you mean it 'blows off',, the relief valve is letting off pressure ? Sounds like you need to replace it with the proper psi Relief valve or just a new one. Then you say it restarts but in your question you say 'Cant set my compressor to automatic start/stop mode' If it is restarting that means it is automatically 'stopping' then automatically 'starting' Please clarify your question.
