Locked out of HP Procurve 2650 switch

I need to reset the logon on the Procurve. We purchased a small company which had no IT, someone along the way had setup the admin login on the switch. There is no one I can ask, and seemingly no information that I have been able to find on the web. Any help would be....helpful. ;-)

If you have forgotten the switch's IP address or administration password you can return the switch to its factory default state by following these steps:

  1. Remove the power cord from the back of the switch.
  2. Connect port 1 to port 2 on the front panel, using a standard network cable.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the switch.
  4. Wait at least 40 seconds before disconnecting port 1 from port 2.
After completing this procedure, the password will be empty, the network address will be returned to the default 192.168.2.10, and all configuration settings will be returned to the original factory defaults. NOTE: Since this process creates a temporary loopback condition on the switch, it is recommended that you remove the switch from a production environment until the process is complete.

HP makes it easy to clear any passwords that have been lost or forgotten. You'll need access to the front of the switch but take a paper clip and hold in the CLEAR button on the front panel for a second. That will clear out any stored passwords and allow you access to the switch. You can also disable the use of those front panel buttons in the programming of the switch if access to the room the switch is stored in is in question. Below is the tech doc on the 2650 too, hope this helps.

Have HP Procurve 2650 switch with some cisco wireless accespoints (WAP2000) attached. when roaming the user-device from one AP to the other, network connectivity is lost for quiet a while, when APs are...

What I saw is that you can only set it to three roaming types, (PMK Caching, Opportunistic Key Caching, PreAuthentication).

Try to turn them all on and see what happens. Here is a screen shot for it.

Our hp 2650 when boots up all the grn and org lights continually stay flashing what could be wrong, although 1 port doesn't flash and works

It could be a Failure on those Flashing Ports, try to console in to the Switch and access the event log to verify that. try the troubleshooting part of the manual at this link, see if it helps: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/Mgmt-Oct2005-59906023-AppC.pdf

Wont wake up

Try removing the battery for a few minutes with the power unplugged. Reinstall the battery and power and give it a shot. If this works then you had a very locked up system; if not then it's likely to be the main board.
