I have a 2003 Mustang, but assuming it is the same then check the following:

Do you have a speaker (tweater) in the door or just a plastic triangular cover (trim piece) on the inside of the door? If yes, open the door. The trim piece clips in place with plastic lugs. Lifting from the back edge the piece should rotate out either exposing the tweeter or the 3 bolts holding the mirror in place. If the tweeter is there, you will need to remove the speaker first. The bolts for the mirror are attached to plastic, so do not overtighter the nuts when reinstalling or you will have to buy a second mirror. Hope this helps.

If you do not have the triangular piece (i.e. door panel is one piece), the Chilton's manual says the door trim panel must be removed first.

How do I replace the passenger side exterior mirror?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Try either an open end wrench or 1/4" drive socket, possibly 10 mm or 12 mm ( metric ) . Forget using needlenose pliers. Hope this helps

I have a 2005 ford mustang and the passenger mirror is hanging. I need to know how to remove it untill I can get it fixed.

If no caps to pop off or screws or bolts on exterior, then inside door panel has to come off & usually nuts in there.

Replace 97 Camry passenger side mirror

If you pull off the triangular black plastic trim behind the mirror, you will see the mirror wiring. If there is no plug, you will have to pull off the door panle. .....SOME Japanese cars have the plugs, but not all of them...Americian built cars do not. They are different.

Exterior passenger mirror

You must first remove the door panel, trace the wiring and disconnect the harness.
There are several screws attaching the door panel, so be careful. These must be removed first to allow all sides to come free.
