Question about Brother MFC-8460N All-In-One Printer
Turned off and back on, tried the manual tray, please help
The sensor also has a spring to the left that enables it to go to its default location. If this spring is missing then the sensor will not detect the tray and display the "No Tray" message even though the tray is in place.

Is the tray required for operation or could it be by-passed to operate on MP only? If so, how can i do it?

There is a paper white spring loaded lift actuator on the left hand of the paper tray, if this is missing, buy a new paper tray, or baby sitting it.
Once you take the tray out, before you slide it back, trip the white plastic profile,on the lower left hand side of the slot,

Hello! when the tray is out of the machine look in that area and you should see a sensor whick telll the machine when the tray is out and out of paper, good luck brother sr tech
