Question about Samsung SCX 4521F All-In-One Laser Printer
I attempted the "head clean" via the control panel. But was unable to find the "cleaning part" under the advanced tab or management tab as referenced in the posting from May 2008. My machine is a SCX 4521F. Please advise.
I thought, per the web site which states "let our experts solve your broblem for free", your "experts" were suppose to assist me in solving the issue? However, according to your e-mail to me it appears I have to purchase an assistance plan first. Please explain.

Do the following to
clean the print head:
INK key on the control panel.
the DOWN arrow key until CLEANING appears on the LCD.
the DOWN arrow key to select BLACK, COLOR or ALL depending on what you
want to clean.
The machine will
clean the print head. When cleaning is finished, the machine will go back
to Ready automatically. If you are experiencing a print quality issue, we
recommend you repeat the print head cleaning for each color showing an issue
at least five (4) times.
If you are
experiencing a print quality issue and want to see if the cleanings are
improving the print quality, print a Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS) after the
first cleaning and then print another PQCS after repeating the print head
cleaning steps at least three (3) more times (4 total cleanings).
You can then compare the two Print Quality Check Sheets.
Do the following to
print a Print Quality Check Sheet:
Press INK key on the control panel.
TEST PRINT will appear on the LCD.
Press OK. PRINT QUALITY will appear on
Press COLOR START.
machine will generate the Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS). On the PQCS each of
the four colors is represented by a slanted square pattern made up of 96
individual blocks. The colors should appear (from left to right): Black -
Yellow - Cyan - Magenta. Cyan is the light blue color and
Magenta is the pinkish color.

Try doing these steps:-
Check that the type of paper you are using in your printer matches ('Media Type') the setting in the printer software 'Main Menu' or 'Print' dialog box.
You may need to clean the print head nozzles. These can be cleaned by employing the 'Head Cleaning' utility from within the printer software interface you get when you want to print or by going via the 'Control Panel' (found via 'My Computer') and selecting the printers section. After the cleaning operations are carried out by the printer, a check pattern will be printed to show that the ink cartridge nozzles are clean. If there are still poor quality areas, repeat the operation.
You've not chosen the color option in your printer software interface. This has happened to many times. By default, my printer software had black selected for all printing.
