Uninstalle skype, go to start and type "run", open it and type "%appdata%Skype" , delete file called "shared.xml" , download skype again from: "http://www.skype.com/go/getskype", install skype in a different location (not the default location) example: "C:Program Files (x86)Skypex" instead of "C:Program Files (x86)Skype"
What's the brand & model of your router? Can you be more specific about the error you get? Probably you need to forward the right ports for Skype to work. Check out this website " http://portforward.com " just skip the ads though. If your router's in the list, click on the link for your router and it should take you to the applications list. Find Skype & follow the instructions on how to configure it behind a router. Here's an example using my D-Link DIR-300 router " http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DIR-300/Skype.htm ."
You need to log into the wireless router either by a computer that successfully connects wirelessly or by physically connecting with an ethernet cable. Once connected, log into the router by open a web browser (InternetExplorer, MozillaFirefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari), and typing the router's address (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) into the Address (or URL) line. The default username and password is usually "admin" & "admin" or "admin" & "password". If you already have change the username and password for your router (not the SSID for your signal) then enter that instead. Once successfully logged in, look for a tab or link that says "Wireless" or "Security". You'll be able to change your security options between WEP or WPA (or WPA-PSK). WPA-PSK is the most secure, but WEP is also an acceptable choice if needed for compatibility with your XBox. Either enter text into the passphrase generator or choose your own password and type it into one of the security key text fields. If you use a password that is not a plain english combination of letters and numbers, be sure to write it down so that you can enter it as needed on other wireless devices that need to access your router (i.e. -pda phones, game consoles, laptops, desktops, etc). Be sure to save changes so that the security settings and password is saved.
