Sounds like carb. may need adjusting. Take the heat box off to expose carb., there should be 2 adjustment screws- 1 on the bottom of the bowl and 1 on the side of the carb just above the edge of the bowl ( depending how the carb sets off the engine - if the carb comes straight out it will be on the side facing towards the front of the snow blower or if it goes towards the handles then standing other side of the snow blower the screw will be facing you), turn both screws in til they just bottom out the turn them out 1 1/4 turns out then start the machine. While the machine is running at low idle turn the screw on the side of the carb. in (clockwise) a little at a time listening for the engine to start to rev up and then start to rev down, bog or studder then turn back slightly to bring idle back up. Once the idle is up then the screw on the very top of the carb. turn that out to lower idle to a normal idle. Repeat those adjustments till you cant get the idle to go up anymore. Now for the screw on the bottom of the bowl- move the throttle up to max and turn the screw in till you hear it rev up higher and starts to bog or sputter then turn it back slightly to bring the high rev to a smooth rev. That should take care of it. If it does not solve it then the carb may need cleaning then the adjustments done again. If you need more help on this please feel free to ask. Sometimes you have to do process of elimination and you start with the easiest first. Also the adjustments should help with the carbon build up on the plug.

Hello, I have a SNOW KING snow blower with a Tecumseh 5 h.p. motor (Tecumseh motor model# HSSK50) I bought this snow blower way back in the day from K-MART, "brand new" and one year after...

I would check the intake gaskets to the head first. It is possible that you have a leaking gasket or seal affecting the performance. Your snow blower is set to run on the rich side so it will actually run with the carburetor hanging loose off the side of the motor before it quits running (happened on my Toro 421). Try a top end gasket set and a carburetor clean first (could even be a leaking head gasket). All of which I am sure you can handle yourself.

Hi, will try to help. This sounds like there is ice or debris that is in around the paddle or the auger preventing to turn at full speed. Without the blower running, look all over around the paddle and auger and get out anything that might be in there. I think that is the problem. This has happened to me many times, and have repaired many like that. I hope this helps you out. All the best and good luck.

Snowblower doesn't throw the snow very far, and every time I stop it, it takes a while for the auger to start turning fast enough to blow the snow. Feels like the torque isn't there. This is a Husqvarna...

The most common cause of this is the drive belt is worn.
If you remove the cover (usually plastic) in the middle of the snow thrower and look at the belts.
Your operator's manual will show you how to remove the cover and check/change the belts.
The belt closest to the blower assembly drives the auger/blower and the belt closest to the engine drives the transmission.
With the engine not running, have someone depress the drive lever and check the blower belt.
You should only be able to depress the long side 1/2 inch or less. More than that the belt has stretched and needs to be replaced.
On some older blowers you can adjust the tension pulley, but most made in the last 15 years, you can't.
The belt may be frayed on the edges or glazed causing it to slip (it is shiny on the sides of the belt) It may be torn and broke completely.
You can get parts for you Craftsman and most Husqvarana, MTD made models through searspartsdirect.com. You can also get parts through jackssmallengines.com or your local dealer.
If you are unfamiliar with repairing machines take it to your local dealer. They will have a technician troubleshoot and repair the unit.
Feel free to ask any other questions to troubleshoot this problem farther. I know Snow Blowers. Please remember to rate this answer!

I have a problem starting my Toro Power Max 828 LE snow blower. It has fresh gas and a new spark plug. When you prime it it doesn't seem to be getting gas. It also has an electric start that is working...

Take a spray bottle and spray gas into the carb and see if it starts. If it starts you more than likely have a carb problem. first thing check and make sure gas is flowing to carb. Take the line off at the carb and see if gas flows through the line. If you have gas to the carb you will have to take carb off and clean it out and check to see if float is stuck closed.you might want to put a rebuild kit in it while it,s apart.
