The cartridge isn't being detected by the DS, this has nothing to do with what is on the card, it's not connecting with the pins inside the DS. Possibly putting a thin piece of card on the front of the game card may push the adaptor close enough to contact the pins.

Stuck on Loading Screen
This usually indicates that the software kernel on the micro sd memory card has become corrupted. It can also happen if the micro sd memory card is overloaded with games, music and video files etc. The solution is to reinstall the kernel software on the micro sd card and ensure the micro sd memory card is not overloaded. Leave about 25% memory free.
download SDformatter and format the sd card with that, place all the files on there, none in folders..
Make sure you bought the correct R4 for the DS light and not the DSi. If you bought the correct one, then it sounds like the R4 cartridge is defective and needs to be exchanged for another one. Remember, Nintendo does not support the R4 cartridge, so go back to where you purchased it from.

After some Googling, here's a suggestion from a forum (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/696944): try adding a paper spacer to the top (side without contacts) of the R4 and then inserting it into DS. On the forum it was the older DS that it didn't work with, but it might just be that the newer ones have been used more.
