Try K1 kerosene after you clean it out, diesel burns dirty and has a higher ignition temp.

I have 2 heaters that will run out of fuel when tank is still half full

What size LP tank are you using? If you are running (2) 175,000 btu heaters on a tank that is too small, especially in this cold weather, it will not have enough vaporization to keep up with demand. This will cause the outside of the tank to frost up and the pressure inside will be too low to run the heaters. You need more wet surface area, i.e. a bigger tank or just manifold 2 tanks together.

Sounds like there might be some water in the fuel?
Take a strong flashlight, and shine it into the tank-- does it look dirty?-- can you see water on the bottom? Try draining and cleaning the tank, and make sure the suction filter is clean-- and in tact.
And yo are using kerosene-- not diesel fuel, right?

My reddy heater is 110,000 BTU. It started spitering and sputtering like it was out of kerosene, but still has a half a tank. Any ideas?

If you brought the heater to my shop the absolute first thing I would do is shine a flashlight into the tank. Look for water droplets (or trash) rolling around the bottom of the tank. Keep in mind if there is a "layer" of water the light won't find it. Drain the tank if there is a "hint" of contaminants.

Next, I would check the fuel filter for stoppage or restriction.

Heater keeps shuting down and displaying EE 6

Check for air leaks in the fuel line. Push the red reset button only once. It's usually a fuel problem. Contamination, air, mixed fuel.
