Put cd in the drive
while continuosly pressing f7 while in restar a box should appear it will give you boot option high light your cd or cd/dvd boot
If this does'nt work while restarting press f2 or delete tells you on your startup screen what to press for setup depending on your system will get you into bios when in there you will be able to change boot options usually under boot
I would'nt change anything else in there but the boot option then press f10 to save and then enter restart withy cd in drive
LET ME IF THIS HAS HELPED

Boot cd acer AX3400-B3802

What operating system is on this machine ?
What do yo see after booting up ?
1. If it is not booting up and you do not see the selftest screens and it gives a number of beeps then shuts down: count the number of beeps, that can tell you what is wrong.
2.If it is finding a harddrive but then gives a black screen which says something like "operating system not found, insert disk" or "grub error, run grub recovery" then you might need a cd or usb drive to boot from.

You might try Acer's e-recovery if you had that on your computer:

Else look here for Win 7 answer:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1751047/copy-boot-disk-win.html
Note on the link to Microsoft the answer of Andre da Costa.
At a friends computer:
1. download the iso
2. burn a cd disk using the program Imgburn as Andre says.

Then run it on your computer:
NB. you might first need to change the boot order in the BIOS, press DEL or F10 (the right button is displayed during the selftest on screen somewhere) find BOOT ORDER or POWER UP ORDER in the BIOS and put CD drive in first position

Look here for what to do:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-are-system-recovery-options#what-are-system-recovery-options=windows-7
open the 3rd option:
To open the System Recovery Options menu using the Windows 7 installation disc or a USB flash drive, or a system repair disc.

If you have reinstalled the operating system and Microsoft Genuine Check gets bothering you: call Microsoft support and explain that you had to reinstall due to harddrive failure, you will be given a new key for your windows. I have done so several times after hardware failures and reinstalling, they always have given me a new key. But you will have to make clear it was due to hardware failure, f.i. new motherboard, harddrive failure.

How to change boot order

Hold the ''c'' key down while starting the computer. The computer will boot from the CD.

As far as not being able to enter BIOS, it could be locked with a password.

Want to know how to reset factory settings...dont want to back the computer up just want to reset it

If you wish to reinstall windows, you will lose all data. To do that, put your Windows XP/Vista/7 disk in your CD/DVD drive and reboot your computer. When it restarts, it should automatically boot from CD/DVD, but if not, press the key that your BIOS screen says to get to the boot menu. This is usually F12 or Esc. Boot from CD and follow the prompts. It should take about 30 to 45 minutes to reinstall a fresh copy of Windows. Hope this helped.

Want to reset to factory... i have an hp pavilion 7920

Most manufacturer's reserve a small partition on the stock hard drive for returning the PC to factory state. When booting the PC, an option should show "repair your computer" or something along those lines. Try pushing either F12 or F8 when booting to bring up this menu.

Did a recovery but computers still running slow. I would like to try a reinsall what do I got to do. to preform this. HP Pavilion Media Center a1600n

Running slowly could be a lot of things. It could be you don't have enough physical memory (RAM) in your computer to do what you want. Less than 1 or 2 GB might be seen as slow. If you really want to reinstall Windows, back up all the files you want to save to someplace else, like an external hard drive or thumb drive. You will have to reinstall all your programs (Office, etc) after you reinstall Windows. Take the CD copy of Windows that came with your computer and boot your computer to that. You may have to change the boot order by entering Setup (usually by pressing F2 when it starts). Make sure the CD drive is first in Boot Order. When you boot to the CD follow the instructions for installing Windows in the screens which follow. Delete any existing partitions and install it on a clean partition.
Good luck!

Getting a media test failure on initial boot up then windows blue screen pop up when windows tries to start. Is my video card not working properly? BIOS was reset.

probably hard drive failure.
try changing the boot order in bios.
if that doesnt work try reinstalling windows.
If windows doesn't reinstall then your hard drive is bad.

HP Desktop keeps rebooting itself

Hi Julie, the boot order is not correct. You need to change the order to boot to you're cdrom first than to you're hard disk drive.
To change that order go to the boot section of you're bios. Move to select you're cdrom & press enter on the keyboard & a list will open. You cam move devices up & down by pressing the + or - keys. Once you have corrected the boot order save & exit.
As the pc begins to start back up, press the F8 key every 2 seconds. A window will open, look for ( Disable automatic restart on system failure ). Choose the option. Windows should continue to load windows. If you see any error messages write them down & post them here.
If windows does not load continue following as mentioned below.
Check if the PC continues to reboot itself. If it continues to do so than you're windows boot files may be corrupted or worse. Load you're restore cd or you're windows cd into you're cdrom drive & restart you're PC. You should see. to load the cd press any key... (Press the space bar). You're cd will start to load. If you're using windows or the restore cd follow the on screen instruction to reinstall windows (ONLY). Doing a reinstall will not earse you're personall data. Do not format you're drive, (Yet). Finish installing windows. The PC will restart once or twice & you will see ( to load from CD press any key... ) Do nothing, windows will continue installing. When finished run windows update till there are no more updated. Some programs will need to be reinstalled, like printer software.

Post back if you need more help or have questions.
Good Luck Julie!
Mike
