Public sales or auctions from corporations or schools are the best places to get computer cables for very very cheap.

If you are looking to purchase new cables places like

Any monitor will work with any computer provided the correct graphics card driver is installed. When you install Vista and you do not install the graphics driver, Windows will default to Generic VGA driver and you will not get the best resolution that the monitor can display.

unsoldering is the only way to UN-mount capacitors the board needs to be out of the casing. a solder iron and some electronic solder wire can be bought at radio shack or any other electronics store.
procedures are all over the internet

thers Sounds like the problem I'm having /had exactly. When I opened the case I found that like others the 470mf capacitors on the power board had gone bad. (See the post from Delphiuser)

The capacitors are probably from a Chinese company called Xandu and I'm currently looking for a replacement capacitor to fit the circuit. Its a 470 mf cap with a 25 volt rating .

Blank screen with message "mode not supported"

Hi

How have you connected the monitor to the computer?
Is it through the vga or the dvi port?
Pls press the monitor menu button and change the mode to vga or dvi depending on the connection that you have now.
You might also get a vga to dvi adapter and connect the monitor to the computer.

Connecting a monitor to a different modem

is there a vga port on the modem? if so make sure the inputs to the modem are wired correctly, just keep in mind the monitor is there for you to see the video not to create one.

make sure the cables are pushed in all the way and tighten. On pick that is out of place can distort color correction. also try reseting the monitor to factory settings.
