Hi, if a dishwasher is not heating up, it can be 3 different things. The most common (on Whirlpool) is the temperature stat, located underneath the machine (small cylinder fitted on the housing), the 2nd will be the element and 3rd will be the PCB.

Did you check behind the toe-kick panel for the tech data sheet? Assuming that you have checked and that it is missing, there here is the "secret keystrokes" that will make most Whirlpool/ KitchenAid/Kenmore/Maytag diswashers enter the diagnostic cycle:
Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or
High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or
Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or
High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry.
Note: On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.
Hi Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...
Please post back for any further assistance. Daniel
Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This
strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If
this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be
getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax
motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly
moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't
receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax
motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these. Hope this helps...
Push these buttons in this order High temp wash > Heated dry>High temp wash >Heated dry all the lights will come on and this will reset the board and run it through a short test cycle but more than likely it will come up again,It's a failure in the heating cycle either the heater itself or the turbidity sensor which sits mounted up into the tub right behind the drain pump...hope this helps
hi there.......best to remove it from its position at the end of your summer vacation....drain it completley..of all water.....pack it into a container (large cardboard box etc) lined with polysterene etc....
First thing check if the lower dish rack is in right position. If it is in wrong position it is not enough room for the lid to pop up open. Try to turn the dish rack around and see if it works. If not, then I'll need the full model number for your dish easher.
Mami, first see if you can put it through a test cycle by pressing the heated dry button six times and then press start. 88 will display. This will test all the funtions of the dishwasher. Let it do it's thing for approx. 20 minutes. Wash motor should run. If it doesn't call for warranty service so you don't void it. It's possible something got messed up during installation.
