Perform a system recovery:
Does not come with recovery cd's - there is a program that allows you to burn the disks or
recover.
3 ways:

1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Restore to factory default settings"
2. Or clcik on Burndisks instead of restore
3. Alt/F10 during boot right after Acer splash screen on startup

It will be something that is set to run at start up, especially, if it's a Vista installed ACER, you will also find that when you connect to the internet that it will also go to the acer web site, so there are two things you will have to sort out. First obove the start button, there is the search, type in 'msconfig', then a box will pop up with all the start up programmes, after you have clicked ok to administration rights, go to the end tab 'start up' and look for the acer advert, you may have to extend the line to see exactly which line you need as other acer ptogrammes run at start up like empower etc, so look for unimportant running programmes, remember if anything you have unticked and you really need to have it running, you can always tick it again. you will be asked to apply the changes and restart the system, when it restarts a box will show saying you have changed the system start up, just click don't show me again. next the Acer hoe page that always starts up go to internet explorer, tools, internet options and on the general tab, you will see probably two home pages, your usual one if you have one and the Acer one, just highlight it and delete it off.

Seems like Language on your computer is set to Spanish
You need to re-install Windows and during setup, select English as Language
Alos you can restore this computer to factory defaults as its brand new and you can then choose language.
Hope this Helps

I bought a new desktop to use with my old screen. Now for some reason the image is a little wider than the screen. Vertically everything is OK. This happens both under Windows and Linux.

Probably the new pc was setup to use a wide screen monitor, which you did not buy.
You need to adjust the resolution to match your existing monitor.
Win XP -right click on the desktop and choose properties (or Graphis Properties. same for Vista or 7). Then choose settings. This will allow to choose your res. Try 1024 X 1260 first. Click apply..
If anything goes wrong, just wait 15 seconds and it will return back automatically. You have to click "accept" to save the change. Don't know about Linux.

I have installed a new monitor on my desktop (windows xp) but the message appears 'Reboot and select proper boot device, or insert Boot Media' .. I have tried out the new moitor on my laptop and is working...

First check that all your CD/DVD and Floppy drives are empty. If there's a disk in one of them, take it out and reboot.

If there isn't a disk in one of the drives, switch on as normal and watch the screen, at the bottom you'll get a a message saying something like "Press F2 for boot options or "DEL" for setup".

Then it'll disappear quick as lightning before you get chance to do anything.

So re-boot again, this time pressing the boot options button repeatedly, so you don't miss your chance.

When successful a screen will say choose where you want to boot from. Choose HDD 0 (Your first hard drive) and press enter.

If you want to you can press the DEL key and go into the bios and set up your boot options.

I would suggest you set the boot order to

1) HDD
2) CD
3) Floppy Drive.

Dear conniejo10,
Since your expansion base setup sucesfuly, all you have to do is try to reconfigure your display properties, this is HOW:

Right Click On your Desktop>Choose PROPERTIES on contect menu>

the DISPLAY PROPERTIES Dialog Box now OPEN

Choose The SETTING tabs, Choose your additional Screen to come on, (it should be position on the '2' Screen when you click on it, the you adjust the resolution by sliding the display control or try to click the ADVANCE/SETTING buton the choose the ADAPTER tabs, the click the LIST ALL MODE button the you choose which resolution that fit your need and match the color mode (better to set to TRUE COLOR).
Then You just hit the apply button. Some hardware need to reboot but some don't.

You should see the two display are now come on at the same time as if you plug the AV out cable in on you expantion base or your Note book.

Good Luck!

Best Regards,

I have a brand new acer laptop but on the setup on the home screen i pressed the red cross and lost some important offers. how do i get them back?

If you REALLY want to get those offers to pop back up, reboot the system & hit the appropriate key when prompted to enter setup {F1, F6, something like that} this will give you the 'setup' screens for your bios. your mouse will not work here!!! using your arrow keys there will be an option to run the restoration sequense. Choose that & it will reload your hard drive.

WARNING:!:! THIS WILL WIPE OUT ANYTHING THAT YOU HAVE ADDED TO YOUR SYSTEM & RETURN IT TO THE WAY IT CAME OUT OF THE BOX !!! THIS INCLUDES ANYTHING YOU HAVE CREATED & SAVED TO YOUR HARD DRIVE.

So, do you really want those offers? They are not that great, trust me.

How to reformat my laptop without a cd??

When you turn it on, watch the screen carefully. Many times recovery is contained on a small partition of your hard drive. When your computer begins booting, watch for a short message that says something like, "For recovery press F11". It could be another F key. You will only get a couple seconds to choose it. Choose an option that does a full restore which will reformat the drive.

Error - The Hard Disk Was Not Found

Boot into the BIOS, I think you hit the Delete key on Dell's to get into the BIOS, but I'm not sure. You should see some type of message at boot that says "To enter setup press XXX" Where XXX is the Delete key or some other key.

Once you're in the BIOS setup see if your HDD is listed. You may also find the option to reset the BIOS to default. Generally speaking this will not hurt anything and may be worth a try.
