Re: How do i set up a voice mail greeting on my nortel...
The short version of getting to your greeting is:
Feature 981 or open voicemail key
"2" for greetings
"1" for record
"1" for primary greeting
"'1" to record your greeting
at the tone record your greeting
"#" to end recording
after you record press 1 to listen 2 to retry or # to accept
press "rls" key when finished
hope that helped.

This is the most complicated part of the Norstar voice mail system and requires a tech or fully trained admin at site.
It is called CCR Custom Called Routing. You need to record "thank you for calling ABC" under AA/GTG/GTG/1 You then need to build a CCR tree and record the rwst of the greeting under Path 0. Path 1 , 2 etc is where you do the pointing. There is too much to mention here that needs to be done. Norstar System Coordinator guide (for any version) is your friend as well but a 2 hour service call is well worth the headache.
The Nortel and any other of PBX come with the voice mail, and you configure the voice mail as a phone ring.... If you can not pick up your phone in 3 time of ring then automatically your phone transfer on Voice mail and there as you setup..........In voice mail it asked which number you want to call and say the details Example: - Dail 1 to Drawing Room Dial 2 for Dinning Hall Dial 3 for Bed Room..
You just configure you voice mail system and solve you problem.
To access your voice mail remotely, call into the voicemail and wiat for either the main greeting or your mailbox greeting to answer the line, press ** followed by your mailbox number password and then the # key (ex. **2251234#).
It sounds like both phones are set to ring on incoming calls and both phones are set to call forward to voice mail box with the same amount of rings . you should turn off the ringing for both phones that way it will not jump between the to mail boxes . now when a call is trans it will go to the box .
You need to go in to voice mail admin . Feature 983 1020000 press AA press Greeting press greeting again enter 1 for greeting 1 this should be your main greeting it could any greeting from 1- 20 , it depends on how it was set up but that should work fine .
