Sounds like you cooked the main fuse going from the battery to the fuse box. Or something happened to one of the battery cables.
There should be a 75 or 100 amp fuse that powers the main fuse box.
how do i know what fuse to look 4? is it under the hood or the dash?? Thank u for your help!!! will i be able to see if its blown?
Your owners manual should show you where the main fuses are. There may be a fuse box near the battery, and it could have some large fuses in it. You may or may not be able to see a blown fuse, it may have to be tested with a meter.
thank you ill check that..u where a big help ill check it this week end and will post if that was it...thank u for all ur help...
i checked the main fuse under the hood..its not blown...and looked under the dash and all fuses r good...would i have power if the alternator was bad? i still have no power at all..no lights no nothing..battery is charged....what can i do now?? thank you for your help
The alternator would not be involved until the engine starts. The battery sends power to the starter and the fuse boxes before anything happens with the alternator. If nothing works and you know for a fact the battery is charged, a mechanic would use a meter or test light to check the major circuits for power and the ground connections. You would start at the battery and work back to the key switch.
so the key switch may be bad? id have head lights at least rite?i have no power anywhere...i charged the battery..and it showes full charge...im just lost..the fuseable link is not bad..i cleaned the cables and all looks good..thank u for ur help..i live in the country so the closest town is 40 miles ..i tow would cost alot..so i was hopeing it was something i could fix...the car only has 71,000 on it..never any problems be for...thank u for all ur help...
No the key switch should not be the problem, but you may have to trace the circuits back to it before you find the problem. There should be several major fuses in the box in the engine compartment that would be tested with a meter or test light along with the actual cables from the battery.
You have to start at the battery and find out how far the voltage goes before it stops. And don't forget the ground connections.

well spend some change and have a simple tune-up. Plugs and filters and readjust the idle.
SOURCE: resetting airbag on 2002 kia rio
Typical code readers (OBDII) won't touch the airbag lights. Neither will disconnecting the battery and waiting. If the airbag light is flashing, there's a code involved. The system may or may not work when needed. If it's on steady, the system is failed and will not deploy when needed. Typically, it's a connector in the various harnesses involved. Unfortunately, the Kia shop manuals just say "replace everything" so they're no help. The dealer has the very expensive code reader to read & reset the airbag light. In other words, $$$.

your transmission overdrive gear is turned off. There should be a button on the shifter or console to turn it on. Overdrive provides better gas mileage on the highway. If you have more questions, please let me know.
