Your switched ignition lead is hooked to a constant voltage wire.
You need to find a source wire that is only given power with the key in the on position.
One wire (yellow) on radio goes to a power wire with +12V constant power (regardless of key position)
The other wire (RED) on radio will need to be attached to a Power wire whose supply is only +12V when the ignition is enabled.
Since you are using a wire harness, you just need to reverse the 2 wires as they currently are installed.

Hope this solves one problem anyway.

the wires being reversed on the harness also may not activate an internal relay allowing the steering wheel functions to operate.Switch the 2 power wires, and re-try.

If the steering wheel controls still fail to operate properly, your module may be defective.

Post your results.

Hi I have a JVC KD-G801 car cd player/radio. Today a mechanic uninstalled it from a car I have which I will be selling and he installed into a newer Peugeot 306 I bought at the weekend. The stereo is...

Yes... the wire designated for constant power which powers the clock and some of the lessor memory functions is disconnected.
I would remove the radio and look for the lead that is disconnected and have a constant power lead attached to it to cure this issue.
Have the mechanic who did it the first time do it.. as it was already paid for him to do so in the first place...

Installing in 2002 kia sedona and the harness is a different configuration .Are there adapters to allow usage. Thanks

Auto Zone, or a local car audio store should sell a stereo installation kit that will have the surround for the new stereo to mount in and fit where the stock radio was. It will also have a wiring harness adapter to plug into the stock radio connector.

My jvc dosnt work in my astra

you need a pc99-x06 and then a patch lead which is stereo specific, so if you buy a JVC it will be pc99-jvc, alpine will be pc99-alp etc etc for your steering wheel controls (these are made by a company called autoleads who do loads of different stuff for car audio)

the stereo you purchase will have to be steering wheel control compatible, which should be stated in the description/instructions

you can have a sub amp etc with steering wheel controls, as thats run from the stereo and main wiring loom, and isn't affected by your steering wheel controls

Installing CD Player in Peugeot 206

Hi dont know if anyone reads this still. First the finger tip control you have to rewire it into the new cd player with a Autoleads PC99-X26 - Peugeot 206 plus connection to your make of radio. Also the wireing problem some times is down to the red and yellow wires being the wrong way round swap them over and this should solve this.

Power will not stay on

Sounds like you're not getting voltage on the accessory power lead. This is the red wire at the back of the deck, and it supplies power whenever the key is switched on. It's possible that your vehicle's radio fuse is blown.
