Question about Printers & Copiers

9 Answers

I have a samsung CLP-300 printer for my MAC G4 OS 10.4.8. When I do a document in Illustrator CS 11.0, I cannot print 100% black. The resulting black is made with a combination of dots in CMYK. Obviously type is not sharp. I inquired to numerous sale reps to no avail and even called samsung and a lady bluntly announced to me that their printers printed black not in dots...My MAC is working properly and my printer is too (prints a word document 100% black just fine!!!). I'm a MAC lady and have to work with Illustrator CS... I need help from someone who knows pre-press and what CMYK means... Thanks in advance. Karen

    Re: Solution from Sergio,

As I am artistically inclined but computer challenged can you tell me how and where to get the upgrade (fireware???) for my printer?

    Thanks

    Karen

    Re:solution from ginko(15 jan.2009)
I selected: printer/color mode/GREYSCALE(instead of COLOR that appears as default)
I got rid of the colored dots but now it prints in black dots only... It looks better but type is still not sharp, especially in small ones(5pt)

  • k_a_t_design Jan 19, 2009

No I didn't realign anything... As I said before, the printer prints perfect (100% black type) from a WORD document made on a PC. The problem must be from my mac illustrator document to the printer...
Second problem...I'm on the web on a PC and the printer is on a mac which is not connected on line. What is the best way to download the upgrade for the printer???
    Thanks
    karen

I know what CMYK is!!! There is no humidity in my cartriges... The printer is new, the cartriges are new (not refilled). The dots (in CMYK) are not all over the paper. The type is MADE OUT OF DOTS(like in a screened 150L photograph)I just whant the type to be 100% black lines...

Call the samsung  support center as its the internal settings done by the company technicians of the company itself. the contact number will be written on the printer fronside or on the manual of the printer.or you can also try contacting the dealer from where you have got this printer as he will get you the exact number of the service center.and get it done online.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

I am not familiar with Macs but likewise uses Samsung printers. In a Windows machine, the Samsung has settings in its Properties for:

  • resolution - the higher the dpi setting, the better;
  • toner saving - preferably switch OFF;
  • Darkness - preferably dark.
Pls post back result(s). Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

You could try saving the file in a different format or even exporting it as a TIF or JPEG and opening it in another program such as Photoshop to print it

    • You can export to PDF DF and use the ColorBurst Hot F older, or open the PDF DF directly in ColorBurst instead of printing from Illustrator.
An alternative to printing from Illustrator is to export a PDF of your file to the ColorBurst Hot Folder. Instead of selecting File > Print, you can select File > Export and save a PDF in the folder designated as the Hot Folder in the ColorBurst Preferences window. The advantage of sending a PDF file to ColorBurst is that it will retain embedded profiles and document dimension information. The “High Quality Print” setting should be used when exporting PDFs from Illustrator to accurately print the file using ColorBurst.
When you export a PDF to the Hot Folder it is moved to the Job List—the PDF file will be deleted from the Hot Folder after it is placed in the Job List. However, any file in the ColorBurst Job List or Done List can be dragged out of the list onto the desktop or into a folder to create a copy of that file.

the current firmware is only for the new 2007+ print engine http://www.bassmania.co.kr
    2006- update www.1479.co.kr

Download the file, then extract the archive.
Drag-n-drop the correct firmware file onto "usblist2.exe" and the
printer will be flashed with the firmware (must be connected via USB if
    you're using the CLP-300N model).

IF U WANT TO reset Samsung CLP-300 toner chip You need a serial interface that can be made pretty cheap and also hex editing and programming software.

u can get the software from here http://www.lancos.com/prog.html and made the serial interface from this page http://www.chiprecharge.com/hardeng.html

It could be that it's a low resolution image.
Raster images consist of tiny dots called pixels. If you already know
then slap me :) Make sure your document is at least 300DPI and that
you're not scaling up a little 3" x 3" image to Tabloid size or
    something.

THE REASON YOU HAVE DOTS AND NOT FULL BLACK IS BECAUSE ONE OF THESE 3 REASONS.

    This is usually caused by:

    1. Using the Absolute Colorimetric rendering intent in Photoshop.

    2. A problem on the head - no solution other than to toss it.

    3. Blocked black nozzle.

CYMK MEANS  colours in your printer. there r four colour tonner cartridges in your printer.C MEANS  cyan (blue),Y MEANS yellow, M MEANS  magenta(pink), K MEANS  black .and the dots you r getting is due to the poweder in your toner.there is a powder in your toner is got moist due to humidity.and so its not printing exactly.if you have refilled the cartridge then the power in the cartridge is not of good quality.if the cartridge is new then its due to moisture in the powder.just replace the cartridge or apply hair dryer on the drum of the tonner.its green in colour,

Hi!
By default the printer settings is 96 dpi (dots per inch) but due to some reason this size has been reduced. Now you have to change this setting to more than 96, around 120 dpi and then check out that if your printer works fine.

On all printers, if you want to print 100% black you get a rendered picture in dots, the setting that you must chose is grayscale photo.

Try checking your printer settings on printer properties.

It is not saving, if you save 100% black, that is what you get.

You save document as normal, and then on printer options you chose to print in grayscale, and check out the rendering options.

To open the printer properties box, chose print from file menu, on top bar , and click printer properties.

From there you print in grayscale or B&W.

Try first upgrading drivers from MAC OS 10.3 - 10.4 ver 1.20 or from here.

Check instructions on manual here: User Manual (ver.4.00)
or Flash User Manual. Read the software section chapter.

This printer is not fully compatible with some Mac OS version, that can also be the problem. In that case you will need to upgrade top Leopard.

There is no driver for your printer to work with OSX. It was for Windows OS only. AND Apple does not support this particular model either.Link below list support printers by Apple OSX>

Samsung CLP-300 Printer not printing black well

You need to take it a couple steps further after your test print. Sounds like your print heads need cleaning or your cartridge may need aligning. It's best to do this each time you install a new cartridge. get more information and help from here .

Samsung CLP 300 Error #12288 Unable to create tempfile

I suggest you download the latest version of the print drivers, uninstall the old ones first. Also, check to see if your program has any updates. Does it do it on other programs as well?

If so, there is a driver issue not properly talking to Vista.
If it works on other programsl, its related to the program itself.

thanks adi

I suspect the problem is common. The Imaging unit requires a Black developer to be replaced. you may approach samsung service center for this.
