If I put 2 sony 1652z amps and bridge them on my 2 sony xplod subbs will they give me the banging sound that want, they are 12s 1300 watt max and rated for 380, 4 ohm. I used to have them both on one 2165 but fell short of what I wanted to hear. Or in other words what would be the best amp to make these subs put in overtime?

You only gave us the model of the amp so I will make an assumption that your 12" subs are the Sony XS-GTX120LW. First, they cannot hold 1200 watts a piece. They are meant to be powered with 350 watts RMS. They will hold 1200 watts peak. That means that 1200 watts for a few seconds will be ok. Past that and kiss them goodbye!
Next you indicated that bridged the amp. Since the subs are both 4 ohm single voice coils did you wire them in series or parallel?
It sounds to me like you wired them in parallel resulting in the amp seeing a 2 ohm load. The amp you referenced is only stable when bridged at 4 ohms.
Has the amp begun working again once it cooled down? If not you could have fried the outputs by having the resistance too low.
yes it will work, but it will only put out the power to the sub that the amp allows, ie : 100 watt amp puts out 100 wats.
you can also try reconfigering your wire to your subs, if your amp is 1ohm stable and your subs you can come off the amp with a bridge and run subs in series or parralell, this will dramaticly improve the bass
asuming the 8s are 4ohms each; wire two in series and that gives you 8ohms then two more in series then you put those together in parallel and it gives you a 4ohm load. repeat with other four for the other side. you should then be able to bridge the sub
series; posative of one speaker to negative of other speaker and that doubles your ohms
parallel; posative to posative negative to negative and that cuts the ohms in half
My information shows the XM-1652Z as being a 2-channel amp. It will not be stable below 4-ohms in bridged mode. For best power, your subs will need to be 2-ohms with all 3 wired in series. This will present a 6-ohm load to the amp. After wiring the subs in series, connect the positive speaker wire to one channel (+) and the negative speaker wire to the other channel (-). For the 1652Z no other wiring is necessary. For subs you will also want to set the LPF (80Hz) switch to the "ON" position (to the right).
Keep in mind that the rated output is only 400 watts RMS at 4-ohms in bridged mode. That's kinda wimpy for 3 subs. You would probably obtain better results from two 2-ohm subs, each connected to a separate channel. That way each sub would be getting 200 watts RMS, still low but there's lots of good subs that will sound pretty loud with 150-200 watts
The best thing to do is to get a amp that is more watts than your subs, not the other way around, speakers are known to handel a lil more power but amps cant produce more power than they are capable of... your ground wire should be thick also, say 6 to 8 mm or so, and its best to put in a cap and an equalizer.
