Re Panasonic KX-DT321 I have read the short instruction leaflet sent with the phone but can't make head or tail of how to set the answerphone to engage after a given number of rings. I work in a busy...

Start by dialing 500 on the intercom. If that gets you into the voice mail system, then you can dial *710x 500 # where x is 4 for No Answer and 5 is Busy/No Answer call forwarding. The number of rings before the forward is controlled by *713yy where yy is a time in seconds. Each ring cycle is about 6 seconds, so 24 would be a good number.

Leaving a message on your own phone? Dialing 500 gets you into your personal mailbox as an owner. Dialing #8 and your extension gets you into the VM system as a caller. (or it might be #6, I don't have my VM online today)

Of course, if you have an ESVM instead of the TVx system, then the procedure is entirely different.

Have a uniden dect 6.0 telephone and for some reason it has an A symbol there which it usually doesn't. People calling can't leave a message ... how can i fix it.

Probably the answering system is set to Announce only. (This gives the outgoing message but will not record messages.)

To change this (using the Uniden that I know), press Menu/OK on the handset. Use the Redial or Phonebook buttons to navigate the menu to AM Operation. Press Menu/OK and then navigate to Msg Length (as above). Press Menu/OK and choose the desired message length (the choices are 1 Min, 4 Min or Announce). Press Menu/OK to save the setting.

The manuals for all the Uniden DECT 6.0 phones are available as PDFs here: . Select your model and language and click on the model number. There you will get more information on setting the system.

I hope this helps.

Sounds like the voicemail either is disconnected from the phone system or has lost power to the voicemail.Open the cover to the voicemail and see if there are any lights on in the system. If so then disconnect the power tho the voicemail for about 30 seconds. the voicemail could take up to 10 minutes to fully reboot.

Dialing in to get Voice Messages.

After the answering machine beeps for you to leave a msg - enter the 3-digit security code. If you haven't already set that function up, the default is 1-2-3.

Once in, use these buttons for:

#1 - Review msg
#2 - Play back msg
#2 again to Stop the play back
or #0 to delete during play back
#3 - Skip
#4 - Turn off/on answer
#7 Review voice menu options

Msg light

I need more information. Your phone can be connected to one of many different Toshiba phone systems and you can also have different voice mail systems. I'm assuming you are talking about voice mail messages.

Can you verify that this is happening only on your phone? If you swap phones with another station does the light start to work? It's rare, but the light itself may be the problem.

Does this same thing happen to anyone else? Is the voice mail not turning on any message waiting lights? or is it working for others?

Not knowing all the details, you could try emptying all messages including saved messages. Then try to leave yourself a test message.

If you know how, you could have your mailbox deleted and re-created. This would need administrative rights to voice mail programming.

Most voice mails have an option to activate the MSG light or not when a new message arrives. Your's could have been turned off by mistake or glitch.
