Question about HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

No button response from printer

I can successfully print from my laptop. I can't scan, copy or turn off the printer. I turn it off by unplugging it from the wall. The buttons do not respond. The display stays stuck on options to scan copy(BW) and Copy(color). Interestingly, I went to Best Buy where I bought it and they had no problem. They were able to copy, print an alignment page and turn the printer off. This printer does have wireless capabilities. Could the printer be interfered with by signals? I have no other printers in the house.

I could be off in my assumption, but I'm going to assume you are running Vista?

I heard of someone else encountering this issue with Vista and it must be a know bug. Check out this doc on HP's Customer Care site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01579338&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1146331

It looks like there is a fix available for download.

Cheers,

_K

Check the settings on the printer to see if you have to switch from scanning to printing, also if you have the original setup disk for the printer just run it again and that will solve the problem.

The printer prints an allignment sheet every time its turned on.

Bypassing the print cartridge alignment It is possible to bypass the alignment page and use the information from the last successful alignment. Print quality may not be as good, but the product will operate. The table below describes how to bypass the cartridge alignment. Try either one of these: Press and hold the Enter button, and then press Setup or Press and hold the Setup button, and then press Options (or Copy Options ).

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

My problem is a weird one. My family has had a Photosmart 3310 All-In-One printer for a while now (I'd say about 3-4 years), and it's worked fine until recently. Now, the light is on around the on button,...

Hi, I suggest you do a full system reset on the printer and see if that fixes anything. Please do the following. Come back and check with me if it doesn't work.
Performing a semi-full reset of the All-in-One
  1. Use the Power button to turn on the product.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
  3. Press and hold the # button and the 6 button.
  4. While holding the buttons down, plug the power cord into the back of the product.
  5. Continue to hold the buttons down until the control panel display goes blank.
  6. Release the buttons, and then use the Power button to turn on the product. The reset information appears on the control panel display.

Instead of pressing the start button to print, you need to press the small ON/OFF button. The start button works to copy/scan. But to print, you will need to turn the printer on first. Once the printer is on, the computer should recognize it fine and allow you to print from your applications.
