There are 2 locations for RAM. If your laptop only has one RAM
    module,
it will be accessed under the cover on the bottom of the laptop (Steps
1 to 5). The 2nd RAM socket is accessed from under the keyboard (steps
    6 onwards).

    1. Shutdown the computer

    2. Turn it over and remove the screw labeled A circled (sorry about the blurry photo)
    and remove the cover

    3. Remove the cover
    4. Remove the original RAM (push the metal clips outwards) and replace
    it with the new RAM

    5. Replace the cover and screw A.

    2nd RAM Socket

    6. Remove the 2 screws labeled B in the first photo in these
    instructions

    7. Along the top edge of the keyboard, there are 3 very small latches
which keep the keyboard in place (they might not be exactly where the circles
are in the following photo - but they'll be close). While very gently
levering one top corner of the keyboard upwards with a small screwdriver, using
another very small screwdriver, push the spring-loaded latched upwards (towards
the top edge of the laptop). Start with the latch closest to the corner
you are gently levering up, and work away to the furthest latch until you should
be able to lift the keyboard up and fold it forward (as shown in the next
    photo).
    8. Remove the 2 screws from the recesses circled and remove the thin
    metal cover.
    9. Rem0ve and Insert your RAM module.
    10. Replace the thin metal cover and 2 securing screws

    11. Fold the keyboard back, locate the lugs along the bottom edge, then
press the top edge down to clip it in place

    12. Turn the laptop over and replace the 2 screws removed in Step 6

    All Done

    if y0ur n0t sure 0n h0w t0 d0 it. its better t0 call a pr0fessi0na| t0 d0 it

My Toshiba Satellite 1805-S204 turns off when i'm trying to open DVD-ROM bay. Sometimes i can open it but than notebook turns off when i'm closing DVD-ROM bay. I want to disassemble 1805-S204 to find out...

I suspect, if you haven't got it working on the AC adaptor when this happens, that maybe the battery is low power. If it does it when the AC adaptor is being used then I think you are right, the DVD ROM is faulty.
Remove the battery and AC adaptor.
Remove the Memory cover.
There is a singel screw that holds the DVD drive bay in. Remove the screw and pull the drive out.
Replace the drive with and IDENTICAL model and that should be that.
Hope this helps.

My laptop doesn't turn on

Usually indicates a problem with the motherboard.

Try removing the battery, reseatting the memory.

If that doesnt' work remove the dvd-rom and also the hard drive.

We're just trying to get a display at this point ;)

Let me know what happens.

My Vaio will not come out of standby mode without having to be shut all the way down and rebooted, I have adjusted the power setings to ensure that nothing is preventing it from going into standby mode....

If the 10-sec thing doesn't work, then try this:
- unplug the mains power.
- remove the battery.
- leave for a minute.
- fit the battery back.
- plug in the mains lead.
- try switching the laptop on.

If it works, then run Windows Update to download the latest fixes to try & stop this happening again.

If it does happen again, try going to the website of the laptop's manufacturer & check on their Support pages to see if they have a fix for your problem.

Toshiba Satellite iss getting power but won't start up

Try pressing F8 to start it in safe mode. If you get into the operating system, Go to System Restore under the STart-Programs-Accesories-System tools-System Restore. Pick a date before the laptop started this problem, and the wizard will guide you the rest of the way.
