R155A Reddy Heater Help!

I have a R155A Reddy Heater that will not ignite the fuel unless I unplug and plug in the unit several times (3-4). Once this procedure is done the unit will fire & run perfect I have replaced all fuel & vacuum lines, air & fuel filters, nozzle, H.S.I., photo cell, rotor (am I missing anything?). The pressure is set to 5psi, doesn't smell, checked for vacuum leaks ........... Maybe you can help before I go out and buy a new heater

Thanks

hojo

This is going to be a tough one. You have been thorough, done it right, and it damn sure ought to fire off every time!

There is something that is causing you a problem and don't think that because you put in new parts that you didn't get a bad part. It happens. Not often, but it does happen. I have rec'd nozzles from the factory that had the orifice installed sideways, so, I know it happens.

If the ignitor glows- (it only stays on for 5 seconds, then quits)
If the fuel fogs (not sprays)
If the fuel hits the glowing ignitor
Then it should fire off-- every time.

Now, if the photocell doesn't like what it sees, then the photocell will shut the heater down within 5 seconds, but it at least should have ignited. Right? Unless the photocell or the board are bad. Maybe.

Lift the top, and watch. What's happening. Are you having a fuel problem or an electronics problem? For instance- is the ignitor glowing every time at start up or only sometimes.

Let me know what you find.

Reddy Heater teasing me:)

sound like there is dirt and stuff in the fuel tank.when the heater fires up it pulls this stuff up into the filter.as it runs it plugs the filter off causing the heater to shut off.whe it shuts off the garbage falls back into the tank.when you refire the heater it pulls the garbage back up again.it never pulls it up the same so the time verys every time

Reddy Heater Doesn't fully ignite

First thing I would do is clean all of your air and fuel filters and check your lines for breaks. A lot of times they will do that if your not getting enough air to fuel mix. If it continues after that it's the CAD/ flame sensor which you can get from MR. Heater for 3 bucks they are all basically the same and I know reddy heater wants 18 for the same thing.

Clicks but wont fire

make sure the high voltage lead to the sparkplug isn't touching anything metal on its way to the plug. the clicking may be the high voltage discharging to a metal part, not the plug. those wires age during use.
