Question about Reddy Heater-30,000 BTU Propane Forced-Air Heater

Will not stay lit

My RLP 30 heater will light and run while holding the push to start button. I've bypassed the heat sensor and unit works fine. Where can I find the overheat sensor? Help Gene Stocker 940-368-0140, eugenestocker@cs.com

How to light the pilot light on a natural gas wall heater

SEt to pilot, Push knob, push pezio ignighter until pilot lights, hold for 30 seconds. if it stays lit turn to on, if it doesn't stay lit, you have a bad thermocouple

I have a Heat Dragon (rlp50) and it won't stay lit unless the control knob is pushed in all the time.

Sounds like the thermocouple is bad. Pushing the knob bypasses the thermocouple and permits ignition once you let go after thirty seconds it is supposed to stay lit. This is common with heaters.

Burner goes out after lighting and holding button for 30-45 secs.

It is usually the tipover sensor that is bad, I have had 2 of them bad right of the box. It is a black plastic peice, under the metal screen near the round know. It has 2 wires running to it, it is a saftey to shut off the heater if it tips over. to test it touch the two wires together, then try to light it, should lit no problem. Then contact manufacture for a replacement for it.
If this has been helpful, please rate the new guy :)
Contact me, If I can help you.
Sincerely,
Paul

Torpedo heater wont stay lit.

Do you have the serial number or the manufacture date? There are some design changes and I would need to know the year of manufacture to assist accurately. Usually it is a relay or the thermocouple connection that will affect the unit staying lit.

Reddyheat rlp 100 will not stay lit, strong gas smell.

I had the same problem with my Reddy Heater PRO 100. It is the 20Lb bottle causing your problem.
I Put a 100LB bottle on and ended my problems.

Yep, sounds like you got it. Unscrew the fitting at the gas valve and take the thermocouple to a reputable Propane Gas supplier. They can match it up for you or you can order one off the internet.

Reddy heater rlp 100

Sounds like the thermocouple is not working or the flame is not hitting the thermocouple. It may take 30 seconds of flame or longer to keep it on. Check for a loose connection at the gas valve.

Either a 30# or 110# tank of propane will work. You might even get by for a short period of time using a gas grill tank, depending upon how cold it is outside.
