Question about Hoover U5163-900 Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

VACUUMING FOREVER? It sucks up great, but throws quite a bit out the back. You vacuum, and vacuum! I have to redo everything since it spits a lot out the back, you turn it around to vacuum it up, and has thrown out more behind? It seems to be a unending nightmare. I check and make sure the basket is emptied frequently, and that doesn't make any difference. I have birds that are messy, and need frequent and quick pick up, but has problems with seeds. Small amounts of cat litter on floor, that it really throws out behind, and is absolutely useless for that use. Is cat litter a no no? Just everyday dirt or whatever it throws out behind it as I'm vacuuming?

Looks like a filter has slit or gone missing on the exhaust side of the motor.-or perhaps you did not know there was one - it has clogged and a bypass is operating. You will have to consult the handbook for your model re filter changing to sort it. The Hoover Web site may be a help - have you looked?

What causes a vacuum to make lots of dust and throw back out what it vacuumed

It sounds like the airducts that lead to your dirt chamber are clogged. The dirt can't get through to the dirt cup so it spits it back out and blows dust everywhere.

My sanyo power brush is spitting out dust instad of sucking it in

Check for a plugged hose or wand, this is a classic sign of a plug some where between the power head and canister.

Shop vac sucks water for a few seconds then it spits it back out

Don't use the paper filter for sucking water. It can ruin it. It will still be usable if you just set it out to dry but there is no reason to use it for water in my experience. I have a sears shop vac and it will fill up more than half full without ejecting the water.

Bissell bagless

I had the same problem, called Bissell over 10 times! They send me 3 plastic inserts for the dirt chamber, not the problem. I solved it by throwing the Bissell away and buying a Eureka bagged vacuum, no more problems.

Filter queen spitting more than sucking

Usually this means that you have a clog, either in the hose, wands, or by the brush roll in the power head.

Won't suck up water from floor

1. Check all the tubes from the nozzle to the collection tank and make sure they are not clogged up. I've had tht happen pretty bad before. 2. Check the squeegee. If it is damaged or torn, replace it.
