You would still go to Start -Run type in regedit and hit ok. You can then search for Java there.....but hacking the registry is dangerous unless you know what you are doing. Make sure you back it up first.

How to enable and disable registry access using MS Visual Basic?

you'll get some disagreement on this I suppose but I've read numerous articles on leaving the registry alone as all the registry is is a record of what has happened on your machine. Changing the registry can really do damage to your operating system.

Pc running XP is stuck in a loop attempting to boot in Safemode. I set it to do this after failed attempts via F8 setting. How do I get my xp to load up and log-in back? thx!

I had this same thing happen to me. I had messed up registry with a registry cleaner and made my main drive unbootable. Fortunately I have a 2ndary drive which I cloned my primary drive from. Assuming that you have a 2nd or back up drive that its bootable you can do 1 of two things physically switch the order of the cables so that it boots from the other drive first or press delete key during POST/BIOS and switch the boot order there. Even if you had to steal a drive from an old computer to boot from once you are booted you should be able to access data on the other drive (I was able to) Otherwise you may be in trouble...depending on the value of your data you may wish to enlist a professional.
