If you experience a problem where the washer does not drain properly or the drain pump makes excessive noise, here’s the information you need to check the drain pump:

1. Unplug the washer while servicing inside the unit.
2. Remove the lower kick panel under the door by removing the three 7mm screws under the bottom edge of the panel. HINT: Use a couple of blocks of wood to prop up the front feet of the washer to gain better access to the screws. Once the screws are removed the panel should drop down, and then pull off. If the panel becomes stuck, a slight tap on either side will dislodge it.
3. Locate the drain pump. It will be located directly under the wash tub (it is the only pump this washer has).
4. There is an access removal cover on the pump that can be removed to clean out the trap. BEFORE doing this, it is strongly recommended that you remove all residual water from the wash tub & drain line or you will have about a gallon or so inside your washer and on the floor to clean up.
5. Here’s a helpful way of quickly removing the residual water. If you own a wet/dry shop vac, remove the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum with the shop vac. This will empty the wash tub, pump and drain lines. If you don’t own a shop vac, grab a bunch of old towels and open the access on the pump slowly so that it comes out at a trickle. Allow the towels to soak up the majority of the water. Close the access and stop the water if you need to get additional towels.
6. Open the pump access and remove once you have all the water drained. Check the drain pump for foreign objects and debris. Check the pump impeller and make sure there’s nothing caught in it. Items as small as toothpicks or cotton swabs have been known to stop this pump from working.
7. Clean out the pump thoroughly and reinstall the access cover. Make sure the cover is snug, but do not over tighten.
8. Place the drain hose back in the standpipe (IMPORTANT – DO NOT FORGET!).
9. With the bottom panel still off, plug the washer back in and select the following on the operator console – DRAIN SPIN, NO SPIN, and then press any button under OPTIONS 4 times (it must be the same button). “C00” will show on the console display as the washer begins diagnostics mode.
10. Check the drain pump for leaks as the washer fills. The pump is gravity filled and will hold water even it is not pumping. Allow washer to run through diagnostics until it begins the wash tub tumble cycle.
11. At this point, you can stop the diagnostics procedure by pressing PAUSE/CANCEL 2 times. The drain pump energizes and the washer will begin to drain.
12. If the drain pump works normal and there are no leaks detected, reinstall the bottom panel and tighten screws.

NOTE: It is normal to have residual water left inside the wash tub under the wash basket. This is why it is important to leave the door ajar when not in use so this water does not become sour.

HE-2 error what is it mean

Hi, on what I will assume is either a Kenmore or Maytag/Whirlpool washer, you have a drain fault,
To fix, you need to remove the lower panel on the front of the machine. Unplug the washer, pull away from the wall and tilt it backwards to the front of the washer is 4-5 inches up, and take out the 3 screws holding the panel on. Once removed you will see a drain pump. Get a bucket ready. On the side or front of the pump is a removable coin trap. Turn the trap handle counter clockwise to unlock and remove. Get your bucket under the opening as much water will come out. Check the coin trap for debris, coins, socks etc. If you find the trap is full of stuff, cleaning it out shoud solve the issue. IF is does not you may have a failed drain pump.

Remove coins from under drum

This depends upon the brand, but most washers have a trap under the front apron at the water pump. The trap will capture the coins that get under the drum. I have collected many dollars from traps. Use a wet dry vacuum attached to the drain line to completely remove the water from the washer prior to opening the trap.

Where is the coin trap on my frigidaire affinity

Hello Friend, this is Z. That's a great question!

I understand you are seeking the location of the coin trap on your Frigidaire Affinity washer. Typically, the coin trap is located inside the sump to pump hose, inside the cabinet and under the tub. Hope this information helps to some degree! If there is anything else that I can help you with, please feel free to reconnect!

Washing machine not draining

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.
Coin Trap If the washer won't drain the coin trap may be clogged. This washer is equipped with a device near the water pump called a coin trap. The purpose of this device is to trap any foreign materials that make their way down the drain. Normally, the coin trap can be accessed through an access panel. It is designed with the homeowner in mind and is normally easy to clean out.

Machine won't spin

The most common reason for this is the pump is jammed - usually with a coin or sock or something.
The pump may be accessible from the front bottom of the machine - look for a little box open it - and you will access the coin - you can clear it and try again - remember to put the coin trap back together again.

Alternatively, if no coin trap is present you will have to tip the machine back - and look for the pump usually it has two black hoses going into it and it is situated near the bottom of the machine - remember when removing the pipes water will come out - so - have a bucket close by to catch the water.

you may find what is jamming the pump there - if there is nothing the next likely culprit is the timer... try moving the programme dial on a little bit see if the spin starts - if you have a digital machine there will be no way to try the last fix.

But the pump is almost always the problem!

Good luck

Machine is making a loud clicking sound and will not spin out clothes

you need to check the main drain pump and all the hoses leading to the pump for any thing that will obstruction the flow or operation of the pump.Be sure to remove the drain hose that comes down from the tub to the drain pump and remove the plastic coin trap and clean it out.depending on how much close you do the coin trap should be clean about once every 6 months or sooner if you do alot of clothes.

My Whirlpool Cabrio washer has some coins trapped in the inside of the machine. I need to find out how to remove the agitator to check inside for more coins.

They are not in your agitator. they are in the pump on the bottom left if you are standing behind the machine. Be VERY careful. That litle pump seems to be the beginnig of many leaking problems.

How do i remove the loose change trapped under the agitator ?

you'll need to remove the agitator to do that usually. fairly easy to do. the centre piece at the top unscrews (very often it will require you turning it the opposite way you would normally untighten something) remove that then lift it up. there is one other way but you need to be very lucky. some coins will react to a magnet. you may be able to get them out that way tho the whole basin is metal so not as likely.

Calypso Washing Machine

There are two places a coin could be that will cause a noise. Either in the basket under the nutator or in the pump. If you hear the noise after the basket stops from the spin, look under the nutator, if you hear it during the cycle, check the pump. If you only hear the noise during the agitation, not the spin cycle, you may have a u-joint going out.
