Scanner turns things yellow in colour scan

Am using an Agfa Snapscan e52 and have been for some time but suddenly it has decided to turn things yellow (sometimes in bands and some times not) especially whites. Simply wondering what's causing it and what can be done short of a new scanner?

A new scanner is the only solution. Do check out the software options first though. Uninstall the software and reinstall it. just to be sure.

I have an Agfa snapscan e20 and would like to use it from my Macbook. The scanner is an old thing. Is this possible and can you give me software to download? Thanks

First thing you should do is after you have connected the scanner to your computer, go to Finder, navigate to Applications and then double-click on the "Image Capture" icon. Press the "Scan" button on your scanner. The Image Capture application will recognize the connected scanner and will display a preview of the picture. Select any special options you want for the scanned picture and click "Scan" in the lower-right corner of the preview window. A scanned image of the picture will now be saved to the "Pictures" section of your user folder. I am advising you to try this as your MAC OS might recognize the scanner without the drivers.

If that doesn't work, try the drivers from Agfa website for SnapScan E20. Website doesn't specify for which MAC OS version they are. In addition, here's a link to th manual.

What is the DC electrical voltage to feed a SnapScan e52, 4,5 V, 6 V, 9 V or 12 V. Many thanks for your answer

The Agfa SnapScan E50 has a 15 V, 1.2 A input, with the centre pin +ve.

Hope this helps,

Peter.

Windows Vista

The VueScan program will work, but you have to go into device manager (Right-click "My computer" choose "Manage" select "Device Manager")

In device manager, you will probably see the scanner detected with a yellow triangle. Right-click the scanner and choose "Upgrade Driver" then choose "browse my computer for updated driver" and browse the the "VueScan" folder on your C drive.

Once you do that Vista will update to the VueScan Driver and you'll be ready to go (once you pay the nice folks at VueScan so that your scans don't have watermarks on them)
