A sound card (also known as an audio card) is a computer expansion card that facilitates the input and output of audio signals to/from a computer under control of computer programs. Typical uses ofsound cards include providing the audio component for multimediaapplications such as music composition, editing video or audio,presentation/education, and entertainment (games). Hello
Try using the onboard video chip to run your graphics. This will tell you if the agp card is bad or not.
Remove agp card first.
Also if there is another power supply for agp card fan, try using it.

I have used circut board cleaner on vid cards to get the fan working again with sucsess.

A few ideas.

The sound is not a start

First of all, question is not clear,but.....
try using cmos setup.may be sound is disable from CMOS.
is u got onboard sound, this must happen.i think u know how to enter setup.
try your speakers connections and make sure speakers are working properly.
if this not correcting your problem,
start ur computer normally and right click on ur my computer icon.select properties.
in hardware tab, click on DEVICE MANAGER,
search for sound, video and game controlers,if there is yellow question mark, you have to install drivers to sound card,go to manufacturer's web site and get latest drivers.
this can help you,i trust.
if this helps you, please accept my solution..
any questions?
Thanks

I HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM....I HAVE AN ELITE MOTHERBOARD L4VXA2 AND WAS WORKING FINE WITH AN ATI RADEON X1300PRO GRAPHICS CARD 256MB AGP 8X....BUT AFTER SOME TIME...I HAVE A PROBLEM.....I PRESS THE START...

Hello and Welcome to FixYa Alex.
No, the battery isn't the problem as you stated that without the Card your PC runs smooth, what i can guess is that the Graphic card is gone, and to confirm this you need to cross-check it on some other PC that can support it. If on that PC the problem is same then its clear that the Graphic Card is gone. And I guess you know that if a Graphic card is of 8x Video output interface, and the Board interface is of 4x, then the Card will run under the compatibility of 4x. A 8x Graphic Card is actually 4x/8x Graphic Card.
I hope you have a clear picture now, and yes I know you will be wondering that how come the graphic card can burn, then fellow never ever trust electronics, they are arbitrary.
If you have any questions do ask, I'm here to help.
If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating will be esteemed.
Concerned, Nooh

I just reinstalled Windows XP on to my PC and after that the sound is missing. Then I open the box and found sound card RTL 8101L. So, I try to download driver for above device. 10x I try to find and...

I think you made a mistake, if your sound card isn't an additional card, then your sound device is SoundMax AD1888. You can download it from this link :
http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/motherboards/download-asus-p5pe-vm-motherboard-windows-xp-drivers/ (Third from the list available) Click on the Wdm0Q1camr.zip. The name you mentioned here Rlt 8101L is not a sound card, it a Lan card. I hope you understand when i make it clear about this. Or else you've additional card (Ad-ons sound card), then it'd be difficult for us to know since you haven't mentioned the device name.

No audio on custom built computer using Abit NF8V

I'm assuming you have the little jacks for the speakers to plug into.... As crazy as this sounds, make sure you have the speakers plugged into the right jack. The icons by the jacks are not all that clear. You might have the speakers plugged into the "Line In" jack? I've done it myself and I'm a Computer Engineer!

sounds more like your motherboard,

unplug everything so all you have is ram (1 piece), cpu + harddrive(essential parts) no sound card, use on board graphics if you have it and if no luck then more likely the motherboard. Ihad a works machine go down before christmas with the same symptons and the problem was the motherboard

hope this helps

PCI card not been detected via Windows.

the sound card is installed into the ISA slot not the PCI slot.
clear the cmos for a minute, set it normal again.
install the sound card to the ISA slot carefully - i mean a working sound card and couple the system unit and boot, surely you will have your sound card working.
