How do you attach the upholstery tube to the main unit? thanks!

The larger fitting slides into the front of the dirty water tank. Remove the lid and either remove the duct, or lift it and tilt it forward on more recent models. The hose fitting goes in with the opening up, and the "V" shaped end down. After replacing the lid, push the round connector down onto it's fitting under the trap door on top of the nozzle, being sure it is fully snapped in place.

I have two older Filter Queen (brown vacuum cleaners). Besides unclogging the hose area and making sure it is not filled with dirt, what else would cause the machine to run hot and have a high pitched...

High pitched sound is often caused by air leaks in air ducts. This will also cause hoover loosing sucking power and slightly overheating.

If the hoover is overheating a lot, then noise can also come from the motor. In that case the part must be rplaced.

Try replacing the cone filter, the secondary filter, and the insulation at the top of the machine.
If that does not fix the problem, then the hoover must be taken apart to clean or repair the air duct.

Hoover Floormate brushes won't turn

With the drive assembly removed it is a black rectangle with a black piece extending down and to the right. There is a metalic fitting that engages the brushes. With nothing attached turn the motor on with the switch. If it doesn;t turn either the switch is bad or the motor is burned out. If you have a voltmeter check the ouyput side of the switch. If voltage is there check the motor plug. If good there the motor is bad. Hope this helps. Yes, the motor does get voltage when the switch is on. You can find parts by entering Hoover FloorMate H3000 parts into Google.
