Question about Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD Recorder
In each case they are Sony DVD - . Some finalize and play OK but some will not. The machine also makes a grinding noise during the attempt to finaliise. So far, this has only happened when I try to transfer from one particular VHS cassette. Having not finalised, it then displays "the disc is only available for playback. It will also not erase any items (thus behaving as if it has finalized the idsc - but it has not)
Your help would be appreciated
Turns out the rubber disc grip on the spindle simply needs to be cleaned (using an alcohol wipe). This is the part that holds the disc firm while it's spinning...the noise and failed disc reads comes from this rubber getting dirty and allowing the disc to slip. Total time to fix including disassembly was less than 15 minutes!
