Kenmore (sears) oasis washer stops with 36 minutes left
I have the new computer board installed and has been for a few months now. things were going fine until yesterday. wife tried to do a load of wash and machine stopped with 36 minutes left. stopped, drained the water and retried on other cycles and every one stopped with 36 minutes left. not sure if 36 is a code or if it really stops with 36 minutes left. i do know it never makes it to the rinse cycle as the fabric softner is still full. i did slave in another board (also an upgraded version. i bought another just to troubleshoot at home) and no change. any ideas what it could be before i call sears and open up a third claim?
bit of background: this happened with the first load after doing the "clean washer" function which is suppose to run for 60 minutes. 3+ hours later it was stuck (still running and full of water, but working) with 7 minutes left & not counting down. i canceled it and it drained the water. maybe this malfunction contributed to the issue? boy do i hate this machine and sears customer service!!

news for Oasis F-51 sufferers! Sears
will replace the electronic control board (the F51 prob) for free, in warranty
or not. Serial #s for the bad board are: CS48 - CS52 or CT01-CT49. Call Sears
hv to rate me ‘very helpful’, or the call won’t get thru!!
Its a tricky repair. there is a spring that sits on the base of the motor. You need to remove the pulley and plastic gears to gain access. This spring is slipping causing drum not to spin correctly. Remove it and clean properly with solvent . If broken replace. Reinstall and retry.
I recieved the followng letter from sears last week since we had registered our OASIS He washer two years ago since we purchased it new. The washer has a serial number that is authorized to get a replacement board, and the part has been shipped to my house. Once it arrives, we are to call the local Sears dept for someone to install the new board.
For washers that have the first four of the serial numbers as:
CS48-CS52 or CT01-CT49 qualify for the replacement Control Board.
I have one of the first kenmore oasis and I get the F1 and off balance error all the time I called the recall number line is 1 (800) 659 7026 they said that they are doing a free upgrade to replace the control board the only problem is the board is on a back order and it may take a week to get the part in.
I just found out sears has a recall for the control board for the top loader. I have the same problem. I called and to my suprise they said the swap was free. 1-800-659-7026. Have your model and serial ready. located under the door. This problem has been extreemly irritating for months now and I am sure sears is still collecting huge repair bills from people. No more sears products for me either!
jenkle, F then 1 flashes when there is a primary control failure. There is a couple of things you can try. 1. Unplug the machine for 2 minutes and see if the error returns. If it does, try activating the auto diagnostic mode. With the washer plugged in and all indicator lights off, select any key except power, start and stop. Here's what you do; press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press/hold for 3 seconds, release for 3 seconds, press and hold for 3 seconds. If you did it right all indicators will light and 88 will appear in the display. If there are any faults, they will then display, look for a F-60 through 68. This will confirm the board is corrupt. If no faults are found the machine will go through a five minute automatic test cycle. To stop the test, just press stop/cancel. Check your owners manual and see how long the board is warranteed. Jenine, I have run into this problem on a few of the Oasis washers. In talking to the Whirlpool tech rep (Whirlpool makes the Oasis), I was under the understanding that they had some issues with the initial main board supplied in these washers causing the F code. Therefore, in changing this washer out, you probably received one in stock with the same board. What I would do, since it's under warranty is to have the technician order a board from the factory. Any revisions to the new board should be in there. As long as you have both water valves on, no clogged screens on the hoses and 120 volts at the outlet your washer should operate normally.
