Question about E-Machines eMachines Refurbished EMA SYSTEM BOARD MODEL T2984 eMachines (102257) PC Desktop

My eMachine won't read disks!

I have a 3230 that for reasons best known to itself has stopped reading disks - won't even recognise when one has been loaded.

I have tried searching for driver updates, uninstalling and re-installing the driver and rolling back to a previous driver.....and that's where my tech knowledge ends. Help!

Hi,
dependant on how old the drive is.
the drives laser may have failed-burnt out.
the only sure way to determine the drives functionability, is to remove it and setup in another pc. assuming this is a desktop.
dvd drives, are now relatively cheap, so it might be an easier option, to replace the drive with a new one.

Thankyou for using Fixya.

Console won't read disk. when disk in console, message comes up unable to read disk

If you are getting that message then there is likely 2 reasons.
1: is because your disk is scratched up or something.
2: your disk reader that is inside of your Wii Console is out of place.

I own eMachine Notebook e525 and it won't read any disks. I have tried multiple disks such as music cds, installation cds and video dvds. None of them read or open. There isn't even an icon for the...

> there is no icon for the CD-drive

Probably means that either:
* no electrical power is reaching the CD-ROM drive
* no "data" is being transferred to/from the drive
* the electronics inside the CD-ROM drive have "died"

Check the "power" and "data" connectors.

If necessary, replace the drive with a new CD/DVD reader/writer.

Hello,

This is not uncommon at all.

There are slight variations in drives and the tracks of data on the disks are extremely small. A disk may be off a tiny amount and may not work in some drives but will work in others. This seems to be particularly true of user recorded disks.

One thing that sometimes works is to make a copy of the disk. Even making a copy with a drive that won't read it normally may sometimes work. The disk copying software will usually warn you and refuse to try if it really can't read it. Try copying it in another machine, that should solve the problem.

When attempting to copy blu ray disc message reads disc not detected.(emachine e525)

Although the same shape and size, Blue Ray disks are a completely different format to DVD's and CD's. You drive won't recognise them

You'll need to get a Blue ray RW drive, and it doesn't stop there. Because there a great deal more information on a blueray disk, you'll need several dvd disks to copy the info to a DVD.

Bluerays hold about 25Gb of data, DVD's hold 4.7 GB and CD's hold 700Mb data.

You cannot use the restore disks from those other systems to do a restore. Even though you may be able to extract the XP install files, you won't be able to authenticate it because the disk is OEM and reads data off of the system it is supposed to install on.

If you have an emachine, contact them for the restore disk, or search the internet for a restore disk for your model. Some people sell them, even on ebay.

Hi! I have a Pioneer DVD DV-310. It suddenly stopped recognising any disk that i put in, and gives an error saying "No Disk". Whats the best solution?

The laser reading head has failed. You can try using a cd/dvd lens cleaner on it, but unless your unit has been used in a filthy environment it's a waste of even more money.

Your DVD-310 is now about two years old and at a typical selling price of just US$69 or UK£40 was an ultra-budget model. Unless it's still under warranty the only realistic fix is to drop yours into the electronic goods recycling bin and to buy a replacement as repairs will cost even more.

Try using Verbatim DVD's, they seem to work the best with Cyberhome recorders.
