First clean the memory of your computer with a pencil eraser, the part that you will clean is the gold color part of the memory, wipe it out with a pencil eraser, if you have a separate video card. clean it also. and then turn back on your pc.

if the problem is the same, clean your motherboard hardwares by pulling out the hardwares that is connecte to the motherboard. and also the motherboard,

note: if you cant' do one of these things, just have your computer repair by a professional computer technician in your area

My IBM thinkpad laptop cannot be opened. Upon start up, it shows system security - the system has been tampered with. This is model 2373-7KA. Please help me solve this problem please!

You will need to run a "Live" virus checker to ensure it isn't a malware problem. You could try Online Defender. It is free and you just burn it to a disc and put it into the optical drive then start the system. This will only work if the optical drive is the first accessed drive in the boot sequence. If this doesn't work you will need some more aggressive software, not to be used by the novice,(it can kill your operating system.)

I have a T41 thinkpad laptop. Its screen goes

If your computer is still in warranty, you can call IBM support at 1-800-426-7378. If the system is already out of warranty and if you want to purchase the part (motherboard), you may call the IBM Parts Department at 1-800-388-7080 or 1-866-428-4465 (then select option 3).

When i start my laptop nothing happens except i hear i beep.I press the power button again and i hear one beep. After about six times an xp page comes on that says windows did not load sucessfully.I go to...

Try starting windows in safe mode by tapping F8 repeatedly right after you press the power button - a black and white screen will appear asking if you want to start in safe mode - the arrow keys select the mode, press enter, let it load fully then use the start menu to shut down and restart normally. Windows is simply telling you it cannot load properly this restores a good configuration again for it to use. Regarding wiggling the power cord - possibly the plugin is either loose or broken inside and the joints that connect it may have to be resoldered, the case has to be taken apart for that. One beep usually means all is well on IBM, three beeps indicate a problem, not necessarily only memory. The bios (F1 or F2 usually) may contain an error log indicating exactly what the problem is and will be indicated by a number code - IBM has a list on their site of what the number codes mean. Occasionally the error code may display on the screen upper corner on start up if you wait for it to show after the beeps.

IBM thinkpad t42 boot up problem.

The sympton is rather vague, but I suggest the following options, to be followed one by one, until one of them works for you.

1) Boot your system in Safe Mode (if Windows is your OS) by pressing F8 after the usual "beep" provided by the BIOS after it detects all is fine. If it boots up, which takes a little longer than usual, then your system is probably Ok, although it may have a configuration problem.
Reboot the machine from the shut down menu and hopefully it will work Ok. If not, then, depending on whether you have Windows Vista (or better), try:

2) Boot again pressing the F8 key, but this time locate the option that reads something like "Last known good configuration". Highlight it with the arrow keys and press Enter.
If you have System Restore set on your drive(s) your laptop should boot up normally.

3) The last option would be for you to go into your system BIOS and run at least a HD detection test, followed by a memory test, etc., but I would only recommend doing this if you know what you're doing. If not, ask a friend for help.

Hi, I have a ibm t41 and when I switch it on, it boots up to show the windows xp screen but will not do anything else. It will not load pages when I click on them or even the start menu when I click on...

Try starting in safe mode, pess F8 continually at start up, then choose safe mode without networking. If you can enter safe mode, then go to start, run, and type msconfig, click on the startup tab, and disable all, then restart. This will turn off all of the startup programs and use less resources. If this works, I would then recommend downloading malwarebytes from malwarebytes.org and running it to clean the system of possible infections. Then, check how much RAM you have, you may need to upgrade. If you can't even boot into safemode, then you may need to reinstall the operating system.

Please advise me new ssd will fit into ibm thinkpad t41 laptops

Yes, just get one the same size (typically 2.5") and interface (IDE or SATA).

FYI: It is important to note that SSD is typically faster than an HD but they use more power so will reduce the battery life in a notebook. I upgraded my notebook to a 7200 RPM HD which is much faster than the original 5400 RPM HD without sacraficing battery life to SDD.

I hope this helps.
