Re: compaq sparo 245552-002

Hi there. I've seen this quite a few times. It might be a couple things, but it sounds like the board has gone bad. Have you done a few tests already, trying another video card, and another ram chip? That's what i would try at first. If you don't get anything from that basic testing, it could be a component that's gone bad on the board, or the bios that went corrupted/bad. Such board are usually just replaced. If you have access to a eeprom programmer, one could just remove (if it's socketed) the bios chip off the motherboard and reprogram it with the bin file meant for that board, that can be downloaded from compaq's website in the support section for that specific pc/motherboard. Else, the board could be replaced with a compatible board of the same format and technology, even if it's not from compaq it's good, as long as it physically fits in the case. Hope that helps a bit ! cheebster.

When sleep computer doesn't turn off computer

There is a difference between puting a computer to sleep and switch it off. When asleep, (mostely used on laptop) everything stays in RAM and the computer is feeding the RAM, so everything stays correct to be used immediately. When you switch off the computer, in Windows, goto the logo in the left corner, click (left button of the mouse) and chose shut down. On the MAC there are more options, but I give one:
Go to the little apple on the left corner of the screen, left mouse click and in the mene chose Shut Down...
I hope this will be of any help.

Compaq q1859 monitor

Hmmm, sleep/suspend mode is only supposed to happen when it doesn't sense any movement from the mouse, it also shouldn't suspend if you are in full-screen either. So if you are playing a game that shouldn't happen at all... as a test you should put the "turn off the display" to "never" and see if it still happens.
I have this happen when watching Netflix, if I don't move the mouse my TV will go into suspend mode, even though I am in full screen... I think my issue however is related to the fact that I am using HDMI to connect to my TV from my computer... I have not solved this issue yet!

NVidia 6200LE scrambling the BIOS screen

Spanky, Alfalfa, Stymie, Buckwheat, and Darla; all down here at the He-Man Woman Haters Club,

Reset your Screen Resolution

Assuming you have WinXP;
Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen.
In the drop down list, left-click on Properties.
In the Display Properties window left-click on the Settings tab. (Top)

Screen resolution is stated in the middle. There is a Slider underneath the heading.
[ Green tipped, and capped, Down Arrow)

Drag the Slider left or right, to bring the screen resolution to the correct setting.

(Ignore if you are aware. Put your mouse cursor on the Slider.
Left-click, hold the left mouse button down. Now move your mouse left, or right, and drag the Slider )

The correct screen resolution is........................hey, come back here with THAT Spanky!...............1280 x 1024

To the right look at Color quality.
Should have - Highest (32 bit) in the box underneath.
If not left-click on the blue Down Arrow to the right of the box.
Left-click on Highest (32 bit) in the list.

Now go down to the bottom right of the Display Properties window, and left-click on Apply.
Finally go to the bottom left side, and click on OK.

Windows XP has the drivers.

Sidebar has suddenly moved to side affecting size of screen. How do I return it to bottom???

You are probably talking about the windows Task bar that normally resides at the bottom of the screen:
Two ways of moving this task ba, to top/bottom/letft/right position of the display:
  1. Move the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar, usually in the largest blank area towards the right, click and hold the right mouse button and drag the Task bar to the bottom of the screen.
  2. Go to the Task Bar 'Properties' (You can get this context menu by clicking the left mouse button after putting the cursor on a blank/inactive area on the task bar) and change the 'Task bar location on screen' option.
Hope it helps: let me know how you go.

We just installed a Compaq S2021 monitor to a dell computer because our monitor went out. The picture quality is great. Problem: The display on the screen is all to the left of the screen with a 2-3...

This kind of issue has mostly resolve with the restart of the system, if problem persists then change the screen resolution to 1024x768.
Good Luck, and do rate the solution if got help
