Ongoing problem with HP dv9000 Pavillion

Comment posted on Jan 13, 2009 Thanks for trying rebelyes 1 but still no luck. if i press f8 after getting to password promt (password not entered but option restart selected) in restart mode the hard drive freezes. if i press f8 on initial startup the hard drive doesn't start. when started normaly the computer advances to the password prompt BUT when the password is entered the computer advances to the WELCOME word and then the screen and curser freeze but the hard drive light keeps flickering and you can hear the hard drive working. because the system came pre-instaled with vista, pc world dont even give you a disc to boot from. I made 3 hp recovery discs but they dont work OR more as lickely I'm doing it wrong. My head hurts and all I want to do is headbutt the damn screen. Any other suggestions please. I'm sooooo P"£$^d off.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

HP Pavillion dv9000. Intermittent stops. Cannot restart, but will do so after many hours. Screen turns blue with band of torn blue that looks like shutters. System carries out repair check - once worked...

Try booting your computer in safe mode... when your machine starts press F8 and go to Windows. Run for a couple of hours and see if this problem happens.

If you have system restore running, restore back to a point when you didnt have the problem

My hp pavillion dv9000 has a black screen and i think it's because of improper shutdown? help

Hello,

Try to use the following steps to reset hardware:

1 Disconnect the battery and the charger
2 Let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
3 Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
4 Connect the charger (don't connect the battery yet) and try to start by pressing the power button.

If the problem remains, the next step will be to re-seat memory modules.

Thanks

HP Pavilion dv9000 Problem

I understand that your Notebook is not booting into windows.

To isolate the issue please try to boot the Notebook in Safemode.

Restart the Notebook and keep pressing F8 key and select Safe mode to boot.

Please try to perform the following steps also

= Power Drain =

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and Battery.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

If your Notebook is booting into Safemode. Then try to restore the Notebook to factory settings. Before restoring the Notebook backup your data.

I hope this will work.
Thanks
