Question about Dell Inspiron E1405 Notebook

No audio device

I tried installing an audio device and it says it doesnt support it.............also i tried to do a system reset on my dell laptop inspiron E1405 and it says its turned off.........and it wont allow me to turn it on............if i could just do that i could reset my system to the time before when it worked.............helllpppppppp ppppppppppleaseee

First, if your system reset was turned off, and you now turn it on, it won't have a previous reset point anymore, since it was turned off. :(
Your best bet is to go to http://support.dell.com and go to download drivers. There, you must enter your "Service Tag" number under your laptop and it will show you all the drivers for your system.
You'll see a small list for audio, read them cafully and make sure you use the one that states its a driver for the audio device, plus the latest posted date on it (ensures compatibility with your current version of Windows).
Once you download and install these drivers, you may need to restart your computer.

You can connect to internet and follow the procedure
: -
go to --- my computer > right click on it > go to properties > device manager > click on the computer name shown in device manager screen >click scan for hardware changes > then the driver will install automatically .

I have istalled window XP and i had window vista...but after installation of new one my laptop inspiron 1525 sound system is not working..m trying to install sound driver but thats not properly...


You are download grading your Operating System to XP from Vista. Drivers for Vista and XP are diferent.

You can download the Audio drivers for XP from Dell Support Site for your laptop.
Check your "Device Manager" and uninstall the previous drivers and reinstall the XP Audio drivers downloaded from Dell Site.

While starting the laptop go into the BIOS by pressing F2. Check to make sure that your audio device is turned on.

If it is turned on then you need to go to Dell.com and download and reinstall the device drivers from their support page.

ok so this also happened to me but after RESTARTING my computer and then letting it fully reboot it seemed to work maybe try restarting it first and then maybe use the dell 1545 inspiron help on their website if it doesn't workk

You should be able to download the Realtek AC97 HD drivers and use those with your audio device.

No sound


Have you tried an external output from your laptop i.e connect headphones . If you can hear something then the drivers are properly installed. If not then more likely the drivers have been overwritten by SP2 and u need to install original drivers from laptops website. Check under Control Panel - sounds and audio then see what device is under your sounds playback.
