Odds are that you have your power saving setting a bit high. (or the monitor is poopy)
Your compuer will go into stand-by mode on it's own.
Go to Control Panel and Power Options and set them accordingly.

If this does not work then congrats!!
You purchased a DELL!

Hope this helps.

LCD monitor turns off

I have had the same problem as others seem to have had with the dell flat panel. After leaving the screen on for some time, the monitor brightens for a moment, then goes black, while the green light stays on. When I reboot, it works again for some time, or if I remove the cable for a few minutes and plug it back in (with monitor turned off) it will come back on...only to repeat the black screen. I have changed the power features, screen resolution, downloaded updated drivers from dell, and viewed dells troubleshooting advice on the monitor cd that came with the computer. Nothing directly advises on this problem, but I have read here and in other online message boards the exact same problem. Anyone able to fix this?

Dell E177FPB monitor has ghost images "bleeding"

I had dual monitor with color bleed to the right. The solution was
1) identify optimal resolution for both monitors ( Dell 198wfp @ 1400 x 900) and (Laptop @ 1200 x 800) 2) check colour setting (32 bit or 16 bit) 3) reduce colour setting down to 16 bit) 4) Check performance 5) reduce screen resolution 6) check 7) cycle between screen color and screen resolution 8) if no luck, check updating the drivers for graphic card 9) if no luck, check updating monitor drivers 10) if no luck, check altering memory set aside for graphics (onboard memory for example or off-graphics-chip-on-RAM-memory) 11) Monitor checking software is very helpful : try "http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=22" for the Nokia Monitor Test (a CRT tester) or any other freeware/shareware testing program such as passmark's products etc.,
You might just have to suffer with a large workspace and mungy grapics performance though ... I am.

I need a Vista Driver for Dell E173FP. I can only find Windows 2k and XP drivers. Please Help!

You don't really need a driver, it's perfectly OK if it stays as "Plug and Play monitor". Monitors communicate with the graphics cards to inform about the modes in which they can operate.
All you have to do is find out the "native" or "recommended" screen resolution and refresh frequency for your monitor model and set these values in Windows' Display Properties - Settings.
In case of DELL E173FP it will be: resolution 1280x1024 and 60Hz refresh.

I have a Dell monitor and the text is blurry and fuzzy, how do I fix this?

this is actually from dell support website.. hope it will correct your problem...

1 Ensure the correct resolution is set for the monitor. Flat panel monitors display the sharpest, clearest images when set to their optimal resolution. Sometimes games and other programs will change the resolution then fail to set it back once they are closed. This will then make the desktop look big, distorted, and grainy. Perform the following steps to adjust the resolution:
  1. Right-click an empty area of the desktop, and then click Properties. (Or, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.)

  2. In the Display Properties window, click the Settings tab.

  3. Under Screen resolution, move the slider to the desired setting. For most flat panels the optimal setting will be all the way to the right.

  4. Click Apply, and then click OK.

  5. If prompted, restart the computer.
NOTE: If the resolution will not adjust to the appropriate settings, the video driver may need to be reinstalled or updated.

2 Ensure the screen is clean. Finger prints and smudges will make the screen look blurry. Clean the screen with a soft lint free cloth. If needed, dampen the cloth with warm water or use a LCD cleaning kit that can be purchased from most electronics stores.
3 Use the On Screen Display (OSD) on the monitor to select the Auto Adjust feature. Selecting this will synch the video signal and can sharpen the video image.
4 Reseat the video signal cable to ensure a secure connection.
5 Use the On Screen Display (OSD) on the monitor to select the Factory Reset feature.
6 Test the monitor on another computer or test another monitor on this computer. If available, testing different hardware will isolate if the problem stays with the computer or monitor

Screen goes off but the power is still on - Dell E310

I can tell you that the guy at the repair place is an IDIOT
resolution would have nothing to do with it
could be something to do with your power sittings
try the options for power saveing from the monitors menu
if thats isnt he probelem it could be hardware
Because dell lock their bios your graphics card cant be overclocked
so it probibly isnt wrong voltage either
corrupt drivers wouldn't be fixed by flicking the monitor on and off nor would a shortage of ram
could be a worm some can get past even the best anti-virus software
best bet is to take it back to the repair shop and shout at the idiot who "fixed" it

Dell 2407 a04 Turns on (for 2 seconds) then off

your pc may be set to a resolution that is out of range for the monitor. Boot into "Safe mode" reset the Display settings to 640 x 480. reboot into normal mode then change the screen settings to your desired resolution.
