You might have a low end gpu.
Run the game in lowest resolution with all effects turned off.
This will help you score some extra fps hence improving game play. :)

When playing games on a pc you must ensure that your pc has the same or better specs as listed on the back of the game box.
I would guess that your laptop just hasn't got good enough specs.
