Question about Microsoft SideWinder Force Feedback Pro Joystick

Need a port for my MS force feedback pro

I need a port that will support my Microsoft Force Feedback Pro Joystick. I have a gateway E1600 small frame computer without a game port.I know they make a USB to a 15 pin port adapter to plug a joystick in but it won't support the MS force feedback pro joystick. Any help with this out there? Like where I could get one?

Thanks

Just get yourself a new soundcard with a gameport on board. Disable your MoBO soundcard if you have one and instal the new one. Creative is probably the safest option. Update the drivers and off you go. Don't forget to add the joystick, the drivers are supplied in XP.

You have the old game port connector. I have one of those too and researched it and even bought one of the adapters. What I found is that the adapters will generally work EXCEPT if your unit has force feedback. The force feedback versions of the MS sticks uses a special protocol that the adapters can't handle. I haven't looked recently, but if you look for an adapter make sure it says it will support force feedback (most will say they don't). In my case I just bought a new joystick.

What game are you trying to play? Most newer games don't know about the old game ports anymore. That could be the cause.

I have the same problem - have lost all stick forces (everything else works fine) and the Forces self test that can be run from the original CD software says there is no electrical power. Have changed the fuse etc. but problem remains. I think something inside the device hardware is bust. Like you I cannot find anything on the Internet as to how or where the device can be repaired!
