Question about ViewSonic VP211b 21.3" LCD Monitor
I have a Viewsonic VP211b that will not power on. No lights, nothing. It has an internal power supply that had a noticeable bad capacitor. I replaced it, but still nothing. When I connect a small 12v blub to the powers supply output as a test, the bulb pulses bright to dim, etc. Is there another bad capacitor or FET?
I have fixed several of these.
The most common fail on the Viewsonic VP211b is a blown fuse on the inverter board. Check fuses F1 and F2. These are Fast Blow 2.0 Amp surface mounted fuses, case style 1208. Available at Newark Electronics, part number 64R8010. They are located on either side of connector CN1.

davsmith00, Did you look on rear of VA712B where the power plug enters the power JACK connector? Maybe it will only tell you who is positive and who is negative (gnd) some monitors state what is the required V & I for them on the rear labels somewhere. This will teach you not to lose your supply. Did the dog hide it under the bed? Good luck finding a replacement. There are sources on web that specialize in drop-in replacement IN-LINE switch-mode-power-supply Bricks. You can also try newark.com and mouser.com and digikey.com to see if they have something. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com Bye for now.

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

This is too funny. I have a Norwood lcd monitor with the same problem. It has the same exact board. I started to troble shoot and it is pretty tough without schmatics but there is a diode (d301) that I am getting a dead short across.

SOURCE: Viewsonic VX922 monitor no power
I had the same problem with my VX924. The two 470uFx25V was blown, and the output diode was in short circuit. I also noticed that the 33R SMD resistor (to pin 6 of SMD IC) was opened. After replaced these parts, the monitor works great.
