Question about ViewSonic VP211b 21.3" LCD Monitor

Viewsonic VP211b No Power

I have a Viewsonic VP211b that will not power on. No lights, nothing. It has an internal power supply that had a noticeable bad capacitor. I replaced it, but still nothing. When I connect a small 12v blub to the powers supply output as a test, the bulb pulses bright to dim, etc. Is there another bad capacitor or FET?

I have fixed several of these.
The most common fail on the Viewsonic VP211b is a blown fuse on the inverter board. Check fuses F1 and F2. These are Fast Blow 2.0 Amp surface mounted fuses, case style 1208. Available at Newark Electronics, part number 64R8010. They are located on either side of connector CN1.

SOURCE: Viewsonic VA712b lost Power Supply need voltage & current

davsmith00, Did you look on rear of VA712B where the power plug enters the power JACK connector? Maybe it will only tell you who is positive and who is negative (gnd) some monitors state what is the required V & I for them on the rear labels somewhere. This will teach you not to lose your supply. Did the dog hide it under the bed? Good luck finding a replacement. There are sources on web that specialize in drop-in replacement IN-LINE switch-mode-power-supply Bricks. You can also try and and to see if they have something. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ Bye for now.

SOURCE: vg2230wm monitor Will not power on

probably your power supply. Is it a cord direct from plug in for is there a box between where you plug it in and then a small round end that goes into the monitor. This would be the good news. If it plugs in direct then that means the power sopply is in the monitor itself which means more expensive to fix

Monitor only works for short period of time

These monitors have a problem of poor quality capacitors. Loss of power as the monitor heats up suggests bad caps. Marginal caps perform worse at higher temps. I repaired a VP211b in 2006 by replacing C52 and C53 on the power supply board. These are 680 uF 25V. I replaced them with 1000 uF 25V because that is what I had on hand. The monitor worked good until now (2015).
Like yours, it would lose power as it heated up. This time the big capacitor on the power supply failed. It is 150 uF 400V. Replacing the bad cap fixed it. These electrolytic caps usually swell when they go bad. The top will curve upward. There may be some brown material leaking out. Any swollen cap should be replaced.

I have a viewsonic vp211b monitor and when I try to hook it up to my dell it doesn't do anything at all. no pictures on the screen nothing. The power supply is fine as I am getting a green light on the...

I have repaired several of these Viewsonic VP211b monitors. In every case, the problem was a blown fuse on the inverter board. There are two fuses, F1 and F2. Either one can fail. The fuses are located on either side of the CN1 connector. These fuses are 1.5 mm long, 1.0 mm wide and 0.5 mm high (Case Style 1206). They have the letters FN printed on them. The N is for 2 Amps and the F is for Very Fast Blow.
The fuses were made by LittleFuse. The replacements were purchased from Newark Electronics. Part number 64R8010. This part number is the Fast blow 2.0 Amp (not the Very Fast blow), but they work fine.
Troubleshooting hint:
The screen is illuminated with fluorescent back lights. Those back lights are powered by the inverter. If everything is working except the back lights, you should be able to see a faint image by shining a bright flashlight into the screen.

My ViewSonic VX900 won't turn on. I have had it since late 2003 and it has operated flawlessly. Went to turn it on; nothing. No light, no standby light. Checked the power cord against another monitor and...

The VX900 has 2 different version of the unit. One version has an external power supply and the other has internal power supply. Since you said you changed the power cord I would guess you have the internal power supply version. The issue you have is caused by the capacitors on the power supply board have overheated and blown out. This is a common problem on many LCD monitors after a few years of use. If you open the back of your monitor and look at the supply board you should see the bulging capacitors. Check our web page at: for Pictures and examples of what to look for and what you need to get to do the repair. If you have any questions let us know on our web site and we will be glad to help you get going again.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Will not power up. Light just flashes

In order to prevent very bad things from happening (e.g. sparks, smoke, fire), most TVs do an internal self-test and will not apply full power if the test fails. They typically flash the power light to let you know that they are refusing to start.

In your case, some internal component has failed. On most LCD TVs there is a power supply board, a main board, one or two inverter-boards, and a LCD controller board. Power supply problems are very common on all models.

My Viewsonic monitor flashs but noscreen display. Is this the power supply

If the light (yellow or pink) is flashing, your monitor is well. It's your CPU that is not giving a video signal to your monitor. Try to reset and notice if your CPU beeps. If it doesn't beep, then there is something wrong with the CPU... or the CPU's speaker.

Viewsonic n3251w - no power

A lot of TVs are having their power boards go bad due to a poor brand of capacitor (CapXon usually).

If small problems are noticed with the tv, the solution is to replace the capacitors. However, once the TV gets to the point where there is no power at all any more (not even a stand-by light) then the power supply has to be replaced.

Visit Viewsonic's website or call your local Viewsonic repair shop to get a price on this board. They are usually under $100.
